Drying up breast milk

Hi ladies-
I'm going back to work in less than 2 weeks and would like to slowly drying up my breast milk. I didn't have that much milk coming in anyway & only pumped 2x a day but I hear its so painful once you stop.
I have heard cabbage leaves help so I'm going to try that.
Do I stop cold turkey? How long does it take for the milk to dry up and the pain to stop?

If you are only pumping/nursing 2x a day it probably shouldnt be too bad.

I stopped at 10 months and was only pumping 2 bottles at that point. It was an uncomfortable tingle for a couple days but dried up really quickly after that.

I didnt use anything.

If you are only pumping twice a day and nothing else, you should be fine. DD totally just cut me off at 9 months. I felt a little uncomfortable for a few days, but nothing terrible (no leaking or anything) - and that was that. You should be fine.

if you're pumping twice a day, slowly cut the length of your pump times and then you can drop one pump then the next. do it gradually.

cabbage leaves! they really work! Also make sure not to let the warm water hit your chest in the shower.

Re: Drying up breast milk

when i stopped I went down a pump cycle every few days for about 3 weeks till I was pumping 1x for about a week. Then I stopped... thankfully, and not sure if this was rare, i had no leaking and no pain. I did hear people swear by cabbage leaves but I didn't have a need for them.
