DS has been crying hysterical lately when I change his diaper...

He cries as if something is hurting him. I don't notice any rash though so what could it be...Chat Icon

As soon I start wiping him with the wipe he starts crying. He doesn't even move or turn or anything. He just lays there and cries as I start wiping him.

He's had diarreah lately but again I don't notice any redness around his tooshy...

He might be tired of being changed. I noticed that when DS has alot of poopie diapers when he is teething he hates being changed.

Do what I do...plop the changing mat on the sofa, turn on a baby DVD (or in my case, the hypnochannel...Baby TV) and get the kid distracted!!! Its worked for us for months now!!!

Alternatively, get your husband to stick his head inside his shirt and say WHERES BABY, that also helps during diaper changes.

I do the same except my dd loves to eat the balmex tube or watch anything on tvChat Icon

I give DD her hairbrush, another diaper, a wipe to play with it gives me time to get in and out and close her up.

Re: DS has been crying hysterical lately when I change his diaper...

It turns out that his tooshy was red. I had a good look at it. Probably with all the diarreah he's had and all. It probably burned when he felt the cold wipe on his but. The cry is an i'm in pain cry. I've been putting balmex and the redness has gone down a bit and this morning he was not screaming his head off.

I did put on the mobile in his nursery. He loves staring and listening to it. So that distracted him too.
