When you change your babies diaper.......
what do you put on? My friends doctors each recommend different things to them.

I use a wipe, put on Desitin and a new diaper. Sometimes if we are going to be outside and it is terribly hot I use baby powder with cornstarch so she doesn't chafe. (I know it is a no no, but I don't use that much and not at every change.)

I just wipe and put the diaper on. The only time I put anything on was when it looked like he was starting to have a diaper rash (I used Desitin).

I always thought it was desitin but one friends docotor told her to just use vaseline.

i use wipes and then apply desitin and a new diaper. i was told to use desitin (or balmex, etc.) with every diaper change for as long as he's in diapers.

For the first 2 months, the doctor suggested using vaseline, around 3 months they said to switch to balmex/destin. When I change her I use a wipe and balmex at every change. Luckily she has never had a diaper rash.

I just use a wipe most of the time. Sometimes vaseline or balmex. She hasn't had a rash yet (knock on wood).

Those who use the vaseline or desitin - you put it everywhere? I always just thought it was used on the area where the rash was.

Me three. I only use Desitin/balmex for diaper rash - which was only once when he came home from the hospital with it!!!!
Sometimes he gets a little red where the diaper rubs on his chubby legs and I find Aquaphor works well on it - clears up in a day. I use vaseline on his penis but that is because of another issue - not diaper rash or anything like that.

I just use a baby wipe and then nothing. I still have the same tube of Desetin since he was born because I never use it and he's never had a diaper rash!

For the first two months, wipe, vaseline and diaper.
From then on wipe, Butt Paste (only when needed, maybe four times total) diaper.
He got his first ouchie rash about 2 weeks ago on one of those unGodly hot days, but thank God for Butt Paste it was gone in two changings.

just wipe and that's it....at night I'll put on some Aquaphor (fancy vaseline that's expensive but not as greasy) after her bath. TRIPLE PASTE works like a charm for diaper rash - but I don't use diaper rash cream unless there is a diaper rash.....

I use a wipe an d I use vaseline when she doesn't have a rash if she has a slight rash I use desitine but she has had 2 very bad rashes and I would use triple past and it would clear it up in no time. She had gotten a bad rash from an antibiotic when she was sick and also she had a reaction to pampers brand diapers

You can use powder with cornstarch only. Talc is a big no-no (but I forget why )

Baby powder can cause cervical cancer in girls (they say) and its no good for their lungs if they inhale it.
