DS is fighting his second nap like crazy! advice please!

DS is so hard to get down for his second nap. I don't even know what to do anymore. He doesn't even look tired right now, but I know he won't make it until bedtime if I skip the nap. If I try to put him in he just screams. We did CIO and I'm ok with that, but I don't want to let him cry if he's not tired.

He will be 1 in 2 weeks. Is it too early from him to drop a nap and go to one nap a day? Is 5pm too late for a nap if bedtime is 8pm? If he's napping once a day shouldn't it be in the afternoon?

Just when I thought I had things down he's driving me crazy again.

Right now his sleep schedule is:
6:00 AM wakeup
10 AM Nap 1-2 hours
4:30 (40 min nap- this is the one he's fighting)
8pm bed

Honestly if it were me. I would give him an early dinner and see where the night takes you.

I know my DD gave up her naps at a very early age. And when she did, she was down to one nap a day.
She is now 2 1/2 and hasn't had a nap for well over a year, but that is another story Chat Icon

ugh...so sorry! I had to rock Nat like crazy this afternoon. No advice, since I usually have the same problem! He COULD be going down to one nap and in a transition period I guess. Ya know what, if he goes to be early tonight...that's what happens! That's my attitude lately. There's no use in torturing both of you !Chat Icon

DS is only 6 months but if he fights his second nap i don't force him to take it, i just try to keep him entertained, give him and early dinner and put him to bed an hour earlier than normal. he still sleeps until his regular time.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I guess we could be going to one nap. He just gets so cranky when he doesn't nap in the pm. I just don't have the energy to fight him so he ate dinner and whenever he gets super tired to bed he goes.
