Ds's food allergy test results
His food allergies were the most severe, he is extremely allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, a shell fish. The skin test wasn't too bad, but when I saw the huge lumps he started to get I knew he allergies would be bad.
The NP said, "I can't stress this enough Mrs. M, if your son has even smell of one of these foods, he will go into anaphylactic shock and could die." I need to carry an epi pen at all times and had to watch a video on how and when to use it. I have to check every label every time, check any restaurants we go to, check everyone's house we visit.
I'm most freaked out about school. Its not peanut free, and while they will accommodate him, it makes me SO freaking nervous that`one slip up could have serious consequences for him.
Ugh, I don't know what I'm looking for here. I'm just freaked out and scared

Thats got to be really tough. I would just make sure the school has an epi pen as well and that they know how to use it. I would be most nervous about school since you won't be there.

It is very stressful to have a child with severe food allergies
Don't know how old your DC is but you can start looking into desensitizing his peanut allergy in the future if he qualifies. A friend of a friend of mine had great results with her DC who had a severe peanut allergy. It took about a year of intense treatments but the child can now be exposed to peanuts with no reaction! One of the requirements that my allergist has for this treatment though is they have to be at least elementary school age and understand the severity of their allergy.

That is very interesting. DS isn't school age yet but I will definitely mention this to the allergist. Thank you for the information!
