update on results: GD Test, iron levels, blood pressure AND a FOOD QUESTION!!!!
I passed the one hour GD test with flying colors!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT...........
My anemia has gotten slightly worse, even though I take those horrid iron pills every day. And, I had my blood pressure checked today and it was too low. I have not been good about eating salty foods and taking the prescribed salt pills b/c it just seems too weird to be pregnant and have to do that.
So, QUESTION does anyone know where I can get some good already prepared collard greens? I used to work with someone who made them and I LOVED them and they are supposed to be loaded with iron. I heard that Smokin' Al's BBQ has them, but is there anyplace else? And, where can I buy the greens if I do want to prepare them myself?

can't help you with the greens, but wanted to say congrats on that negative GD test!!!!
ETA: how low is your blood pressure? because mine is pretty low (ranging from 80/40 to 90/60) and no one seems worried about it.

Congrats on passing the 1 hr!
As far as the greens... I think they sell them frozen. Do you like spinach? I have been living on raw spinach (and cooked) and my iron levels are great.

I'm not sure where you can buy ready prepared greens, but you can try these other foods that are very rich in iron and easy to prepare: Dried fruit, apricots, prunes & raisins Nuts, walnuts & almonds Baked potatoe with the skin Beets lima Beans Watermelon is high in iron & very easy!
Well done for passing your GD test, I hope this helps

I get similar readings to yours but this is after all the efforts to bring it up, such as the salt pills and diet. I do not think they would be worried if not for other issues I happen to have that tie in with it. My medication makes the BP lower, so when I am starting that low, they are afraid to raise the dose.
Do you feel okay when yours is 80/40? Sometimes I think that what I call preggo brain is really more from low BP.

good question, i'm really not sure. i've been feeling very...i don't know... foggy mentally for the last few months, but i never attributed it to the blood pressure, because my blood pressure is low even when i'm not pregnant. but now that you bring it up, i'm sure low BP has something to do with "preggo brain".

I was going to suggest Smokin Al's; sorry I can't think of any place else.
But congratulations on your GD test results!

Kerie - first I love your avatar and I want it!!
Second - collard greens at Best Yet on Larkfield Road in East Northport just north of Cedar Road!
Third - somewhere in the thread it says watermelon is high in iron. I have tons left over in my fridge from the baby carriage. Let me know if you want me to swing by and drop some off.

Oh, I think my mom shops at Best Yet. I'll see if she can look for it! Actually DH and I have been eating lots of watermelon. He just bought 2 small containers of the pre-cut pieces. If we got some from you, I don't know if we would get to all of it before it goes bad.
