ductless air conditioners
Do anyone have an experiencing with ductless air conditioners or an estimate of about how much it costs? My BIL suggested it to my DH and I because we have no space in our house for ducts.TIA

Re: ductless air conditioners
We put one in our attic. The rest of the floors have central ac. For 1000sq feet we paid $3500

Re: ductless air conditioners
Thank you so much for responding. I don't know if that is a lot or not. I really wish I could fit CAC but I don't think it is possible.

Re: ductless air conditioners
Our friends just got estimates for both central air and Ductless... I was shocked that ductless is actually more expensive.

Re: ductless air conditioners
I heard the ductless is more expensive too.
What do you mean by no room in your house for central?
We don't have attic space so ours is in the smallest bedrooms closet upstairs. It takes up about 1/2 the closet, so we use that room as a guest room and the closet for storage only.

Re: ductless air conditioners
we have ductless mini splits and chose this because we had no room for CAC either (we have an older house with no room for ductwork/vents)
we have one large unit that cools the entire first floor, then a unit in each of the 3 upstairs bedrooms that also cools the entire 2nd floor
we paid roughly $9K for the whole thing and got a refund from LIPA and on our taxes
i love them! An added bonus is they also have heat in them, so we used to turn on the one in DS's room at night to keep his room warmer than the rest of the house
eta: the quote you get will really depend on the flow of your house and how many rooms/area you need to cool
