I am always the only one who thinks if they can swing it, and regardless of whether the kids are helping out or not, are happy.....then I say more power to them. I think they seem like a great family.
This has ALWAYS been my opinion, however, after her suffering from pre-eclampsia and almost dying and her baby almost dying, I really am perplexed as to how she can put herself in danger again when she has so many other children already, not to mention a high needs infant. I just think at some point, she's going to do real harm to herself and possibly die and how is it fair to leave all those kids without a mom? And I really am the first person to defend them usually as I love them and think they're a great family.

JMO but I think that if this is true, it is selfish, reckless and irresponsible after the risky pregnancy and premature birth of Josie. I can only imagine another pregnancy endangering her life and the only people who will suffer are her poor children. Enough is enough!
I agree, I think it's great she wants/has a big family but once a complication comes along you would think that would be it or you would at least wait a bit. Why push their luck? Also since she has NINETEEN children already if something were to happen to her during pregnancy/delivery, now NINETEEN children will lose their Mom. Then what?
That said, I really like their show and the family as a whole. I think besides maybe having too many children they are awesome parents and are raising great children

once you develop pre-eclampsia youre chance of developing it again skyrockets
This isn't really true, I developed Pre-E at the end of my PG and was told by my Dr that there isn't sufficient data to determine if it will happen in subsequent pregnancies. She said most Dr's put the risk at 20%, but that the "experts" all range from 5-75%.
There are also many factors, like when you developed it, how severe it was and if your BP went back to normal after delivery.
It does seem like Michele Duggar's PreE was pretty severe, but your statement is not entirely true and could really frighten woman unnecessarily who have had PreE in a previous pregnancy.
Regardless -- if there is a CHANCE of an increased risk WHY RISK IT? Still being selfish in my opinion.
You even said MOST doctors put the risk at 20%. So that's a 1 in 5 chance. How many more pregnancies is she going to have before these numbers prove detrimental for her?

ETA - this is just ridiculous now that I re-read it. If most experts put the risk from 5-75% then that means that they really have no clue. So again, like I said - why risk it.

COME ON!! Can their care for the one who just came home from the NICU first! Sorry I know it's not me or my family but at what point is it neglect? The older ones are raising the younger ones.Do they get 1:1 time with those parents?

wow ~ I would have thought after what happened with Josie and her being premature (and how long it took for her to become strong) they would take a break or maybe not have anymore.

I get that, but I also think there are MILLIONS of women, who have had preemies, had pregnancy complications, have lost children themselves during or shortly after the birth, and whether its their second child or their 40th, I dont think that takes away their right (for lack of a better term) to have more children, bc of complications with one. Should the same be said to a mother of one who had complications and a baby in the NICU, should they not have the opportunity to have more children? KWIM? I just think no matter what # child it is, complications shouldnt determine whether you should have more children, that could happen to any of us.

I had severe pre-E with my DS and one doctor told me I could develop it again with a future pregnancy but there's no data to support that. Another doctor said it's a freak thing that can't be explained but some people get it, some don't, and there's no way to determine if you will get it again.
For Michelle Duggar, this was not the first time she had pre-eclampsia. In one of their shows or specials when they went through talking about each of her kids and deliveries, I believe she had pre-e with one or two previous pregancies (MANY many years ago). So it does seem she is more likely to get it based on history.
I still won't believe it until they officially make a statement. I hope they give themselves enough time to take care of their latest precious baby girl who needs so much care and attention.
I know for MYSELF, I feel that I can't/don't give my ONE DS enough time and attention (but I'm working FT), so I can't imagine having that many children and wanting to be there for each of them etc. But that's me, they are different people and seem to make it work.

Re: Duggars expecting 20th child!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT?! I had pre-eclampsia w/ my dd, and she was born at 32 weeks. She spent 5 weeks & 4 days in the NICU. She was just a grower/feeder baby, w/o any major medical concerns like Josie. After what we have been through we aren't even sure if we are going to have anymore. I can't believe after having a 25 weeker w/ some many concerns they would be so eager to jump back into it. You could see that "look" on Michelle's face still. I don't believe it.

My point really had nothing to do with Michele Duggar, just that you were putting false info out there. I don't typically get my medical info from the internet, but I was concerned that someone who had pre-E would read your post and think they could not have more children.

Our situation with DS was SO similar! Severe pre-e, born at 32 weeks, spent 4 weeks in the hospital. Although I am really looking forward to having another in the future!

Re: Duggars expecting 20th child!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmmmm......
I searched high and low and cant find any other press releases that she is pregnant with her 20th child....
They also appear to have some of their information incorrect. They said that their home is 2000 square feet? I dont know how big that house is but it's ALOT bigger than 2000 square feet....
