Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
You are there for an hour right? I'm trying to schedule it through Quest and it said the duration is 15 minutes.

Re: Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
I did one years ago (when I wasn't pg) and it was an hour long. That's weird that it's saying 15 min!

Re: Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
Yes, it is 1 hour. They give you the drink and make you sit there for an hour before they draw your blood.

Re: Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
yes its a hour. Same thing happened to me when I scheduled online with Quest but when I got to the lab the tech knew I was supposed to be there for the full hour.

15 minutes?
If your appointment is at 8, you would be done at 9... (for example)

They may just be accounting for the time you will actually be in with the tech.

Re: Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
At my office, they gave me the drink to take home with me at my last appointment. Then they told me to drink it about an hour before my appt (and then come in 15 minutes early To get set up I guess?) and then they will take my blood. So, I am guessing that it'll really only be maybe 15 minutes for me too.
On that note, did anyone else do it this way? My friend said that when they did hers, she had to fast for 12 hours before, then they took her blood before she drank it and again an hour after drinking it.
I double checked my instructions and they said I can eat before - though they suggested nothing too sugary - but just not to eat or drink anything after I drink the stuff.

Re: Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
I was there for an hour! more than that actually if you count the wait time to get called and I had an appointment it was like 2 hours.
Also I did mine at quest and when i scheduled it online it said 15 minutes as well. I called them to be sure and they said no it's an hour that is just how they the time slot is online.

Re: Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
I didn't go to Quest, I used Labcorp...but I was there exactly one hour. I signed in, she gave me the drink, I drank it and one hour later she took my blood and sent me home. I was told I didn't need to fast, but I just went first thing in the morning to make it easy.

Re: Dumb question about 1 hour glucose
i, like oneday, was given the drink the appointment before. they told me to drink it 45 minutes before i got there and between the wait and doing the normal peeing, blood pressure, weight, by the time they drew my blood, it was an hour later. but they also did it in the office. it's most likely different at quest. i had to go to quest for my 3 hr and they made me wait there the whole time.

Yup, I took the drink home and had to drink it within 15 minutes and be in the office exactly 1 hour from when I finished drinking it. Then they took my blood, etc. I was there for maybe 10-20 mins total.
I was told I could eat if I needed to, but they prefer I didn't so I didn't eat breakfast.
