Dumb wedding party questions
OK so I've never been in a wedding party before, most of my friends are not married or had destination weddings/eloped. And to make it all worse, I had a city hall wedding, so I need to make sure we get this right.
My SIL is getting married, me, DH and our girls are all in the wedding.
Rehearsal dinner: do we chip in or is this hosted by B&G or family?
Gift/envelope: OK I'll admit it, we can't afford to cover our plates AND the kids plates plus incur the travel (we are out of state) etc. While we were planning this whole time on the girls being in the wedding, we were just asked about a month or so ago so those added expenses weren't planned for and our budget is really tight. (yes I know, this will divide the red sea of cover your plates vs give what you can afford)
I'd like to give SIL something special from my girls in addition to our gift, looking for ideas. They adore their aunt and their uncle to be, and I want to do something corny and cute, looking for ideas
What else do I need to know for this? I feel really stupid LOL

Re: Dumb wedding party questions
Rehearsal Dinner - Not your responsibility. It is usually paid for by the groom's parents, bride's parents, bride and groom or any combo of the above.
Your likely responsibilities: Your dress, your DH's outfit, your kids outfits Your accessories, shoes. Your hair/make-up
Gift for the shower Gift for the wedding
You may be asked to contribute or plan the shower and/or batchellorette party.
As for a gift, I'd spend about $50 for the shower and $300 for a present considering it is OOS for you and you will have to factor in costs for traveling to each event. Obviously I think you give what you can afford. If that is out of your budget, then give less, but I would try to give at least $200 for more than 2 people. I would include a heartfelt card with the check.
As for a gift from your girls, I like redenvelope, personal creations, uncommon goods for gift ideas. You could also go on pinterest to see if there is something your kids to hand make for your sister - that might be best as it will really be from the heart and hopefully cost less. Perhaps hand prints of the girls upside down painted as a bride?

all great advice!
also look on etsy for some hand made items - like something monogramed - We gave my SIL her monogrammed hanger to hang her wedding dress the day off from my daughters. My SIL got monogramed cups for all her bridesmaids and her to drink water or mamosas the morning off and I love it - I still use it every day - that could be a cute give for their aunt! Nothing more fun than getting your new married name on it!!!

Re: Dumb wedding party questions
I would check etsy for gifts for the bride...maybe a Robe with her new name..Mrs. ___ on it, so she can wear it while getting ready, and then came wear it after that as well.
Or check out personalizationmall.com They have some nice wedding things.
