Ear Infections...

Could it make your jaw hurt? like the joint of my jaw feels very tight. My ear is sensitive to the touch and hurts, so I'm assuming I now have an ear infection ontop of bronchitis and a sinus infection... Chat Icon

Re: Ear Infections...

Have you taken anything?

I would take a pain reliever and go to a dr. if you haven't already for some medicine. Take a sock and fill it up with rice (not cooked) and tie a knot and heat it up in the microwave and then put it up to your ear. That should relieve the pressure.

Also, try and pack up the ear with cotton. that helps too.

Feel better!

I'm on Augmentin for the Bronchitis.. I called my dr about my ear and he said the augmentin will clear it up. Actually, the nurse who called me back said that's what my dr said.. Chat Icon

But is it normal for my jaw to feel tight like this? It's only on the side of the ear that hurts..

I'll try the rice thing tonight....

THANKS!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

You're at work?!? wow. I give you alot of credit. I couldn't work and feel like that.

I would ask them if you can take some motrin or something. That doesn't sound good for your jaw to hurt. Chat Icon

It could be in connection with the ear infection or the sinus infection (I've had this happen before in the past when I've had sinus infections).

The antibiotic you are on should kill everything! Maybe try a decongestant as well (like sudafed) to help everything unclog (my dr told me to do that when I got bronchitis earlier this year)

Re: Ear Infections...

that happens to me all the time - actually it happens when i get a bad sinus infection. those effect my ear, jaw, teeth, and eyes when they're really bad. i wouldn't be surprised if that's what it's from.

ETA: don't be surprised if you need another round of antibiotics - i had an infection that took me 3 rounds to get rid of.
