Ear pulling: Infection or Teething Related

My DD is 4mth old and for the past 2 nights, she has been waking up at least every 2 to 3 hours (which is out of her norm. she can sleep through night) crying and pulling on her right ear. She has been teething lately though.

So how do I know if its an ear infection or just related to her teething. She has no other symptoms...no fever, no cold...

what do you think?

I am thinking of calling her dr today to see what they think i should do.

is she showing other signs of teething?

are her naps disrupted as well or just night time sleep?

You could try giving her some tylenol before bed to see if that helps, after 6 mths old they can get motrin which worked better for us with teething

We just had Troy at Ped for his 4 mo ck. Dr said his gums are swollen so teething is starting. He said to watch for a temp (below 100.1) and pulling at his ears and/or hair. He also said there isn't much that can be done.

DD was always an ear puller when she was teething.

If she's not crying when you lay her down, doesn't seem uncomfy and no fever, it's prob teething.

My PEd's rule is if fever under 101 prob teething, if over 101, virus or sickness.
