Ear Tubes and Walking.. observations and questions
So My DS had tubes put in Monday. Our concerns were over-antibiotic exposure (from chronic ear infections) that led to c. diff infection, he had a hearing loss and speech wasn't developing as nicely as I would have liked to see.
We never thought about walking being delayed because of it. He is 12 months(so not worried at all about walking) and doing okay with walking. He is so close but just can't seem to get it. I know it's coming soon.
Well, Yesterday, one day after the surgery I noticed a significant improvment in his balance and walking. He is taking many more steps and seems less wobbly. It could just be a coincidence.. or not.
As an SLP I know that his equilbrium being off from the fluid could have thrown off his balance. But, I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this in relation to getting ear tubes. Did your DC seems more balanced or start walking shortly after the surgery?
p.s., I don't know if it's just wishful thinking.. but, I think I am already seeing a difference in his speech. His tone sounds different. He is attending to sounds and really trying to imitate sounds. I thought I was nuts until my Mom noticed it too!

Re: Ear Tubes and Walking.. observations and questions
DS was older so walking wasn't an issue when he had tubes. I did notice his speech improvement - although, he didn't listen - but he did hear!!!
