Early anatomy scan at 16 weeks?

I just had my NT scan today, the dr said everything looked normal. But the scan took over an hour because they couldn't get the baby in a good position. Just waiting for my blood test results. But I am feeling good about everything.

The dr said she wants to see me back at 16 weeks for an early anatomy scan, I thought this wasn't done until around 20 weeks. I mean I am happy to get to see my nugget again soon but wondering why she requested this.

Has this happened to anyone else? I went to the testing center at nslij in Manhasset.

Did you ask why they want you to do it early at 16weeks? I wasn't allowed to schedule mine before 20 weeks

Some Dr's do it this way. Mine does the NT at 12 weeks and level II at 20 weeks. My friends is due a few weeks before me & her Dr. Does one part of the level II at 16 weeks and the rest at 20.

After being there for 3 hours I just wanted to get home, so I didn't think to ask and felt dumb calling back hours later to find out.

I had an early anatomy scan at 16 weeks, and a level II at 20 weeks. I am greening twins though, that was the reason.

I had my NT at 13 weeks, went back at 16 weeks for more blood and soon, which they said was a follow up for the NT and then will have the other sono at 20 weeks. Different from when I had my son, when the sono was at 13 weeks and then 20 weeks. I am just excited I get to see the baby again!

I really don't know and declined the NT scan, but I'm guessing it is to measure something they couldn't at the NT scan that would be harder to see at 20 weeks. If you won't see the Ob before then, I would call to ask so you know what the sono tech is supposed to do. You might want to call anyway to see if you also need to schedule the 20 month scan. It can be hard to get a good appointment time for the level II since they schedule a long block of time.

My MD does an early at 16-17 weeks and then another at 20 weeks.

It depends on your practice. With DS my practice did an anatomy scan at 16 and 20 as routine practice but some only do 20.

My doctor also offered me an optional 16 week scan in addition to the full anatomy scan at 20 weeks. It just depends on the practice. I wouldn't be worried if I were you.

Thanks ladies! You have definitely eased my mind, now looking forward to it!! Just annoying since I have to go to the hospital for it since my dr doesn't do it in his office.
