I think everyone will be different
I picked other cause we decided we will let DD decide when she wants to get them

I want to add that it is a personal decision and I would never dictate to another parent that they should do it it just because we did it

I put other.
I don't think I would do it, but I don't see anything wrong with it. I've seen baby girls with their ears pierced and it's really cute!
I still remember when I was about 9 and my parents took me and my sis to get our ears pierced... I think i'd want to do something like that with my kids.

Re: Earrings for baby girls under 2 - yes or no?
Ear piercing has long been the subject of controversy but for some, piercing a child's ears has deep-rooted cultural meanings. Evidence of ear-lobe piercing is seen in ancient civilisations dating over 6000 years and many ancient African, Aboriginal and Nordic cultures all pierced their ears.
Hindus hold an ear piercing ceremony known as Karnavedha on babies of both sexes at twelve days old. They believe that the piercing of a hole in the lower lobes of the ear have benefits of acupuncture as well as distracting evil spirits.
Ear piercing is also mentioned in the Bible and for some Christians is said to be a sign of faith. It is normal, for example, for Latin American Christians to routinely pierce baby girls' ears.
As well as cultural reasons, parents may also choose to pierce their baby's ears because of family traditions or, most typically, to identify the baby as a girl. However, some babies have their ears pierced because of the social culture they are born into.
The question that has divided people is whether a parent has the right to make that choice for their child as part of a fashion or social statement.
Not that you needed this but I thought the article was interesting
We pierced DD's at 3 mos old.

Re: Earrings for baby girls under 2 - yes or no?
I picked 'other'...I'm not neccessarily for or against. I think they look adorable on little girls. I don't think I'll get DD's ears pierced. But when she's older, if she asked to have it done...I'd have no problem with it.

Re: Earrings for baby girls under 2 - yes or no?
I just bought my 4 month old neice diamond studs for her christening. My sister will get her ears pierced in a few weeks. I think it looks adorable but everyone will have a different opinion on this topic. I did ask my sister and her husband if it was okay before I purchased the earings.

Re: Earrings for baby girls under 2 - yes or no?
I should have mentioned my view. I think it's absolutely ADORABLE for little girls to have earrings. I'm not sure that dh would let this one "fly" when the time comes, but if I had MY way, I would totally do it.
I would think the earlier you get her ears pierced, the better. That way, when she's one, she won't even notice the foreign objects in her ears, right?
Great article!!! Thanks for that!

Re: Earrings for baby girls under 2 - yes or no?
I would worry that the earrings could come loose and she would place them in her mouth and possibly choke. I hope I'm not worrying anyone, but that was my first thought.

I'd never tell another person what to do with respect to his or her child, but I personally don't like earrings on babies.

Re: Earrings for baby girls under 2 - yes or no?
i would get my future daughter's ears pierced as early as possible. i love earrings on babies and screwbacks are safe because it would be near impossible for them to take them off
i'll never forget the fear and pain when i got mine done at 7...i wish my parents had done it when i didn't know what was going on!

I don't have an opinion either way. If you want to pierce your child's ears, that's up to you. I think it's fine.
Personally, I'm waiting until Maddie asks for them.
