Easter/Passover-those who celebrate both
DH and I are hosting Easter this year. His mother's family is Jewish, and some of them will be coming. Since Easter is during Passover, this presents a problem to those who are keeping kosher. One has already said that she won't eat but will come. However, I feel badly not serving her anything! Is there anything I can do/make? How are those of you who celebrate both handling this? DH and I are Catholic, so we have no clue what to do!

Re: Easter/Passover-those who celebrate both
It's depends on how religious they are. Some might just avoid the foods they can't eat but some might be fully kosher. If they are kosher year round then they probably won't eat because your house is not kosher... (because your dishes have been used for both meat and dairy or because both meat and dairy are being served together). Some people are less religious and more traditional and just can't eat the bread products (oat, barley, flour, anything that rises), marshmallows, etc. DH should know more about this so ask him how strict his family is. You can do traditional easter treats and foods but also have a passover spread. Buy Kosher for passover coke, a box of matzah, kosher for passover cream cheese and jellies. People like to eat matzah with cream cheese and jelly. Potatoes are good so you can offer baked potatoes or other potato based items. They can eat tuna fish and turkey and chicken... they just can't be breaded. You can buy kosher desserts- candies and cookies in the passover aisle of the supermarkets right now. One or two boxes of those things would be nice to offer near dessert. They can't eat cupcakes, or peeps or other traditional easter treats.

Thanks so much! DH knows almost nothing about Judaism or the rules and traditions of the religion, which makes this quite difficult!

Exactly. For me personally, although I'm not strictly 100% kosher during the year, I am strict about keeping Passover, so I would not eat anything cooked in your kitchen. (I use all separate pots, pans, dishes, and silverware during Passover).I agree that it's nice to get some kosher for passover candies/chocolates for dessert. Also, you can buy some mixed nuts to put out beforehand. There are some in the stores labeled for Passover, or the ones in the shell are okay.
One of my friends was dating (& married) a Catholic guy. When she would go to his family's house during Passover, she would make a matzah lasagna to bring for herself and anyone who wanted to eat. I thought it was a good solution, but your guest needs to come up with something like that on her own.
