Easy, inexpensive app for 40 people?
We are having a backyard bbq type party, food is pretty much covered but we need one more appetizer. I am trying to keep this as cost effective as possible. Food is burgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, pasta salad, green salad and some other salad (not sure yet, someone is bringing and didn't specify yet)
For starters so far I think we are doing tortilla chips, salsa, crudite and dip. I need something else, any ideas?
TIA!

Go to Costco and get the frozen hors d'oeuvres. You can get mini quiches, pigs in a blanket, etc. Relatively inexpensive and super easy to make.

Olives, cheese, crackers, pepperoni. You can buy all of these in bulk.

Maybe one of those 7-layer dips with the ground beef.
Spinach dip in a bread bowl?

Costco's party platter wraps or sandwichs- no heating or assembly required- just buy and serve!

Re: Easy, inexpensive app for 40 people?
This blog entry has 5 different ones, but I recommend the zucchini crostini. It's really easy and always a huge hit. One batch makes a decent amount, so if you double it you'll be set for 40 people...although they're very popular, so you can always triple if you want. They're so easy to make that it's not much of a chore. Just grate, mix, and spread.
