Easy recipes that are crowd pleasers ...ADD YOURS!

I made sweet and sour meatballs for the first time today and to my surprise, EVERYBODY in the house liked them! I am looking for similar style recipes that are quick and easy and that a lot of people enjoy.

Shrimp Kebobs, everyone raves about them at every BBQ. Even my kids love it.

1 lb shrimp
1 tbs canola oil
1 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs sugar
1 tsp curry powder

Mix canola oil, soy sauce, sugar, and curry powder together to form a marinade. Pour over shrimp and let sit 1 hour, then grill!

Don't know if it's the same, but I have a very easy sweet and sour meatball recipe that everyone loves:

I buy the cocktail sized Cooked Perfect brand frozen Swedish meatballs (they come in bags of 64) and throw them in a crock pot with 12 oz grape jelly and 12 oz chili sauce (sold near the ketchup). Cook on low for a few hours until the sauce melds together and coats the heated meatballs. People LOVE it, and it's the easiest thing to do.

Yup it's the same recipe. Just equal parts of grape jelly and chili sauce. I also squeeze fresh lemon juice (I use 1 lemon for 30 mini meatballs) and dice 1/2 red onion. They were amazing. ( we don't eat red meat so I made turkey meatballs)

Chicken enchiladas!

I put 3-4 chicken breasts in the slow cooker with a can of enchilada sauce (big can) and a can of diced green chiles. I let that cook for 5ish hours until the chicken can be shredded. Then I add minute rice to the slow cooker to absorb extra liquid. I stir in a little cheese too because I love cheese. Then I put the chicken in tortillas, roll them, put them in a baking pan (make sure to pack them tightly together so they don't open and spill out), pour cheese on top and then more enchilada sauce!

I serve them with refried beans and onions. People love them and the only thing you really need to do is roll them. They're so easy!

Baked Macaroni & Cheese in mini ramekin dishes!

*Boil a box of elbow pasta w/ pinch of salt & butter
*Drain
*In a big bowl I mix carnation evaporated can milk, black pepper(eyeball it), melted butter (1/2 cup) a little flour.
*In each mini cup I layer pasta, liquid mixture, sharp cheddar(shredded),pasta, jack cheese, bread crumbs
*I then use I can't believe it's not butter spray on top.
*Bake at 375 until the top has a nice brown crust.
* let it stand for 20 minutes before serving to make sure liquid mixture thickens

So yummy!!!

Making this right now Christine. When you say a few hours do you mean 3?

Thanks

I made the meatballs on Easter but I couldn't find chili sauce in the supermarket so I just bought Franks Sweet Chili Sauce and threw it in the crock with the frozen meatballs and left it on low for 3 hours. I did stir occasionally.

Sorry, just saw this, but yes, in my crockpot, 3 to 4 hours on low is good. The meatballs are fully cooked, so you just heat them up in the sauce, but it takes awhile for the sauce to meld together well and coat the meatballs.

Hope they came out well!

Did you look by the ketchup? I've never had trouble finding it. It's usually right by the ketchup. Heinz makes it, and I always see a generic store brand, too. But hope they turned out well, anyway!

DH and I looked all over that area and the Shoprite I went to has A LOT of sauces lol. They came out great and all 64 were devoured!

Glad the meatballs turned out.

Here is another a relatively easy and very crowd-pleasing recipe I make -

Baked Clams:

Saute 2 TB finely chopped onion, 4-6 cloves of minced garlic (depending on the size of the cloves), and 2 tsp chopped parsley in 6 TB olive oil.

[NB: I usually just throw the onion, garlic, and parsley in my mini food processor to chop it very fine.]

Add in 1 cup of plain dried breadcrumbs, and remove from the heat. Stir in 3 (6.5 oz) cans of chopped clams in clam juice. [I usually just add the juice of 2 of the 3 cans and drain the third so the mixture doesn't get too wet, but use your judgment]. Add fresh squeezed lemon juice and salt to taste.

Fill little clamshell tins with the mixture and top each with a little grated parmesan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes until tops are golden. Serve with lemon wedges.

People LOVE these at my party. You can also put the mixture in a small baking dish, top it with the parm, bake it, and then serve it as a dip with crackers, celery sticks, etc.

sausage , potatoes and onions. Can use chicken sausage if you like. I brown the sausage in a pan first then throw them in gkass bakeware and cook in the oven for about an hour at 400, it is a crowd pleaser and easy as pie.
