Eateries for someone with tree nut allergies
My 2 yr old granddaughter was just diagnosed with severe allergies to cashews, walnuts and pistachios. Probably pecans too. Also crabmeat. Anyone have suggestions of "safe" places to eat? Looking for any fast food, regular restaurants and places for ice cream . Also any bakeries that are tree nut free. She is not allergic to peanuts. We're in Nassau, so anywhere in Nassau or western Suffolk.

Not sure about restaurants, but there is a bakery in Bellemore that is totally nut free. Barenaked Bakery

Re: Eateries for someone with tree nut allergies
Pretty much all fast food and chain restaurants have allergy info available online. For other types of restaurants, you just have to ask. My DS is allergic to eggs and nuts and that is what we do. I have found that restaurants are always happy to check. Ice cream is more of an issue because of contamination from scoops. When we go out, my DS can only have ice cream that comes from a machine. Those self-serve frozen yogurt places are great because a lot of them list ingredients, and if they don't have them on the machines, they always have a book that shows the ingredients in each flavor.
