eating less then your daily points

I know the goal is to eat all of your points for the day, but now that I have obsessed over finding healthy/low point foods and snacks, I find that I can easily eat less then my daily allotment and still feel full. Is that ok, or should I always try to eat my set points?

Re: eating less then your daily points

i find i don't have enough points to get the healthy guidelines (2 oils, 2 servings milk).

if you don't all your points you are not eating enough.

Eat all your points for sure! If you eat less your body's metabloic functions will slow down and wait loss will eventually come to a screeching halt!

Re: eating less then your daily points

If you don't eat all your points you run the risk of not losing weight. Your body will hold on to the food cause you aren't getting enough to sustain it.

If you want to not eat the 35 extra you can do that.

Always eat your setpoints amount - if not, it screws up your metabolism and the program doesn't work correctly.

Like pp said - you don't need to go into the 35 extra points.

The WW people stress to ALWAYS eat your points, but I NEVER do. Chat Icon

Lost 18lbs since January, and 30lbs 3 years ago so it can't be too bad a thing to do.

Well I have extra points because I'm breastfeeding. I know that alots for extra calories for milk supply- and I am getting the extra calories from things that just don't have points- like veggies and soups.

I think you should be okay then, you are getting the extra nourishment from things without points Chat Icon

I'm curious - this is a question for anyone.

What if you eat tons of veggies. Many are 0 points...would this theory still apply?

Yes.

your weight loss will not only come to a screeching halt, if you try to eat somewhat "normally" again - the weight will pile back on. I've done both - cut calories and did WW and I had more success when following the program. While cutting calories, I ate too little, which slowed down my metabolism and once I hit my goal and ate normally, the weight came right back on.

By adhering to the points guidelines, you lose weight and if you follow the maintenance plan, it will stay off.

They'll tell you at meetings you should eat all your points. I've always eaten less and just lost weight quicker. I personally dont think its a big deal.

Re: eating less then your daily points

You need to eat all your points so your body gets used to a certain amount of calories each day. Eating less points may help you lose weight faster but once you start adding on extra food you will add weight on. Weight watchers is about a lifestyle change, it's not a diet. If your short on points occasionally then that's fine. My leader said if I'm short 2 or 3 points at night to have a glass of milk or a spoon of peanut butter. Won't fill you up but will keep you at the level you need to be at.
