Eating Peanuts/Peanut butter and Peanut allergy??

I've heard that if you eat a lot of peanuts or peanut butter while pregnant that your baby will have a peanut allergy - Has anyone asked their doctor about that??

I plan on asking the next time I go (3 weeks), but I was just curious what you all heard...

I have heard that too, but that just sounds far too silly to me to be true! So, I eat peanut butter whenever I feel like it

I've heard this too (also read it in 2 pregnancy books). You're supposed to avoid peanuts if you have a history of allergies, supposedly your baby is more likely to develop a peanut allergy if you have allergies yourself.

I would highly doubt this to be true! & if so, I'm in big trouble! PB&J were staples in my diet haha

this entire preganancy can be defined by my peanut butter intake.

My doctor told me only 3 other patients of his loved it as much as I did (it saved me in my first tri).

2 of the babies love it now as kids
the other one can't stand it!

I read it in the what to expect when expecting book! I though that if you ate a lot than you would be immune to it? HMM

I never asked, but I lived on PB&J while pregnant with my DD and she has no allergies.

I ate peanutbutter constantly w dd I have yet to give her pb (she is 14months old) but my ob said nothing about staying away from pb during pregnancy

i actually asked my daughter's (she does not have allergies) ped because with this preg I am seriously downing trail mix...he said there are alot of studies out there but the bottom line is there is no connections. He pretty much said allergies are a shot in the dark. Hope this helps.

There are conflicting studies about this. I ate peanut butter every day during my pregnancy and continue to eat it while nursing. I haven't fed DS nuts or peanut butter yet, but he doesn't seem to have a sensitivity to it through BFing.

ETA: If you have a family history of nut allergies, you may be advised to avoid it during pregnancy.
