EBF: HELP! DS biting at almost 11 months

DS will be 11 months on Sunday. I had planned to start weaning him then dropping one feeding a week until he was done by 12 months.
However the past 4 days he started biting HARD and actually drew blood once so now I'm in terrible pain at every feeding. He's not getting much anymore because he bites about 2-3 minutes after starting and I stop AND say NO! DS ends up crying and then we try the other side but the same thing happens.
I really can't take this anymore and I want to stop now but am afraid of being in pain from quiting cold turkey instead of gradually.
Anybody ever go through this and have advice? He's so close to a year so I know it's ok to stop but I don't think I can do it the way I planned because he's hurting me so much!

ETA: DS does not take bottles and I do not pump.
