DS is 13 months and biting- need advice
How do i stop this? ds just started biting. He's 13 months old. He's bit me, my DH and my FIL.
I sternly tell him no and he laughs. He's a little too young to bite back and even then he'd probably think it was a game.
The only thing i can think of is to put him in time out in his crib.
What do i do? Anyone have this problem?
(i tried doing a search and didn't come up with much). TIA!

Re: DS is 13 months and biting- need advice
We've been dealing with a biting problem for some time now.
When he first started biting at around 8 months I ignored it and it stopped. Then it came back around 10 months and ignoring didn't work. So I would firmly tell him "no". Which didn't work either. So then I told him "no" and firmly sat him down on his butt. He would cry and I would ignore him. That seemed to do the trick.
Over the past few days it seems to have come back. So I am doing the "no" and firm butt placement and it seems to be doing the trick again.
BTW - he only bites me

I would try ignoring him, that would bother him the most.

DS was a biter for several months around this age. We used to sternly say no biting and place him down if we were holding him. He seemed to just grow out of it one day.

Re: DS is 13 months and biting- need advice
Brazelton's touchpoints book has a good section on biting/hitting. Its a natural thing. The section gave me a lot of insight into why DD hits. I havn't gotten her to stop hitting, but I understand why she does it a lot better. He said biting and hitting come by the same source and its really the toddlers frustration about not being able to communicate his feelings and also not being able to make a decsion for himself.
Its a good read and I wish I had picked it up sooner...

not sure, DS is 10 monhs and he bites the heck out of whoever is holding him if he gets really happy or excited about something. or sometimes He will bite hands if hyou are doing something he doesn't want. I don't think he gets it, we tell him no biting he will just do it again. I hope they grow out of it

DS wanted my attention one day so he bit me. As a reaction I smacked him - I didn't really mean to do it but he stopped biting.

Thanks girls. I think i'll definitely try telling him now, putting him down and ignoring him. That will definitely p*ss him off and hopefully he'll learn quick that biting gets him nowhere.
