Ebony is going to the vet today - Update
He's been so lethargic since yesterday. I wanted to take him yesterday - after seeing he wouldn't get off the bed even when I tempted him with walkies, and a ball. But later I got him to the park and he seemed ok. But ever since, he has just been lying on the couch -- won't get up. He still has that awful hacking cough that the Dr. can't figure out.
I am so upset, I wish they could just find what the problem is and make him all better. After $1,600 in testing still no answers. Today if the vet has no conclusions I will ask him to refer us to the Emergency Center in Plainview.
Update 12/1: Vet just called. The MRI showed 2 degenerative disks which he is not sure need surgery or not. The radiologist has to look over the results and we are waiting for test results from the fluids extracted. We won't have any answers until Monday. Ebs has to stay at the hospital all weekend. I hope they are taking good care of my baby....

Well -- the vet took blood (again) and his temp (103) and felt around.... but doesn't know what the problem is. He gave me antibiotics/antiinflammatory and said to see how he is on Friday.
So I just made an appt with my sister's vet to get a second opinion. I am so so upset and frustrated ... my sister thinks it is cancer, because her dog had similar symptoms...

OMG, Kara, I am so sorry that you don't know -- that is the worst. I would absolutely get a 2nd op. If you are willing to come this way, FM, I would be happy to share my vet info -- I love him. In the meantime, I hope Ebony is comfortable and feeling better

Well I couldn't wait until tomorrow, so we did take him to the Emergency Pet Clinic off the LIE. After MUCH waiting, talking, poking and prodding -- the vet tried moving his neck and he cried out in pain. So we THINK it is a bulging disc (should have taken him to the chiropractor with us 2x/week!!). They gave us more meds - he is now on antibiotic/antiinflammatory, and a pain killer. We will see how he is tomorrow and Friday will schedule an ultrasound with my regular vet. I am just so relieved to have some answers, even if they aren't definite - at least I know he is feeling better.
Thank you all for the well wishes and I will let you know what happens.

Just spoke to the vet - well most of the time I was crying but whatever. I am checking Ebs into the doggie hospital - that way they can put him on an IV. They will do an ultrasound. If we don't find anything, they will do an MRI. His bloodwork all came back normal so who the heII knows what is going on...
