Edging for Flower Beds - Stone

Okay here is my next project, I want to change the edging around the flowerbeds in front of my house (and soon the back). Right now we have old red brick that the former owners had there and I want to update it with new brick or stone and want to do it myself.

The problem is I can't find the brick/stone on Lowes.com or homedepot.com. Am i looking in the wrong place? I know there are people who can do it, but we want to do it ourselves.

Any ideas where i can look for this.

By stone I mean the stones that are piled up on each other 4 or 5 tall.

Thanks!!!

Do you mean a stone border? if so, you need to go to a stone yard. I've never seen those at any Lowes or HD.

is this what you mean?

You are not looking in the wrong place, Lowes has the stones in thier store in Farmingdale, outside garden near the plants.

Re: Edging for Flower Beds - Stone

We just did this in our backyard for the past two weekends.

We went to a nursery (Prianti in Dix Hills) and ordered 2 skids and that was enough for us to do what we wanted. It's actually bluestone.......maybe about an inch thick.......give or take. And we piled about 4-5 rocks on top of each other.....Some more than others.

I didn't upload pics yet.......but kinda looks like this....just not as high.

Like This?

They do sell these at Lowes & HD. I don't know where you live, but there is Joseph Picone on Rt. 110 in Farmingdale, Bedrock on Sunrise Hwy in W. Babylon and another place on Sunrise Hwy in Lindenhurst next to PepBoys (sorry don't know the name). We are doing this to our house too soon. GL!

Re: Edging for Flower Beds - Stone

We had this at our house, had a landscaper do it.

I believe you want to find flagstone and you can get it at a stone warehouse or maybe even a garden center.

We bought a stone border from Lowes. They have a good selection and they also have a little booklet that shows all of the options (DH went and checked it out and brought me home the book to go through).

We bought little cylinder stone borders - there were four cylinders together on each piece. They are kind of a grey/tan color).

ETA - They aren't as tall as you are looking for but, they did have that option as well!

Re: Edging for Flower Beds - Stone

I did a stretch of wall in front of my house with those stones, from HD. Once you get the first layer done (with proper base material, and making sure it's level), the subsequent layers go really fast.

We just ordered this from Allied Builders Supply Corp. They are located on Merrick Road in Seaford. They have a huge selection. The stone was delivered the next day.
