EDITED: Update: Is this a normal experience with OB - would you be upset?
Thank you all for your responses and FM's. This is a very supportive group and it is helpful to know I am not alone in this experience - although I wish none of us had to go through this.
I went to the Doctor yesterday. Good news is I don't need the D&C procedure, she did a sono and it looks like the physical part of the miscarriage is over. She reviewed my chart and answered my questions.
She said a few other things that I didn't like and claimed she would have wanted to examine me even if I set up the D&C - ummm ok, not sure why she tried to cancel my appt then? I'm just glad the immediate need for care is over with and I will be looking for a new OB for sure!
Now - trying to figure out how to heal emotionally. ________________________________
Am I over reacting? maybe I am moving from grief to anger stage here and taking it out on wrong person?
Quick background: Doctors office was closed thurs/fri for holidays. Bleeding heavily thurs and doc told me to go to emergency room to determine if I was positive or negative blood type to get shot if negative.
Went to emergency room she is affiliated based on her guidance and was told the baby had passed and I would have a miscarriage. Given a referral (from my OB) for a specialist for D&C.
Friday - couldn't get ahold of referral and called my OB. Said to call her on Monday. In the meantime, determined this referral does not take my insurance and I miscarried naturally on Friday afternoon.
Monday - 8:30 am - called OB and left message. Don't believe message ever given to her.
11:00 am - called OB office and left detailed message that I believed I had miscarried on my own and wasn't sure if I should still schedule D&C or what I should do. I have an OB appt for tomorrow.
3:45 pm - Receptionist called me back and said to cancel my appt and schedule a D&C and doctor had left for the day.
I am just furious that my doctor didn't have the curtesy to call me back personally and check on me. It has been 3 days, my situation has changed since we last spoke.
I think I will go to my appt tomorrow and speak to her in person as I don't want to wait over a week to go to a specialist for a procedure I don't need.
Overreacting? Would your doctor have called you back personally?

I would be furious, and would demand to be seen in person.
Any time I had issues or concerns the doctor always called me back within 24 hours and also had me come in as well.

I'm sorry for your loss. I don't think you experience is acceptable at all. My ob isn't the most thoughtful but they have called back. Sorry.

I would be furious...my doctor didn't want be to go more then a day (2 tops) without seeing them for sono and bloodwork when i was in the "unclear" stage that you are in right now. I would definitely go to your appt tomorrow and voice your concerns and have her check you out. I am so sorry that on top of the mc you have to deal with this. You do not deserve this right now. I'm hoping tomorrow you get some answers and a clear plan

I would definitely keep the appointment and explain to the doctor in person why you will be seeking a new OB. It seems the entire office is very insensitive and not thorough at all. I am sorry for your loss.
