Re: EDITED WITH PICS...Please help..anyone have an overweight toddler?
No advice but you have your reasons to be concerned. I was also thinking the same thing about my lil boy. At his 3 month check up he was 15 lbs. 4 oz He's in the 90% for weight and 75% for height. The "fat" gene rund in DH's family. His dad and sister are both BIG and I mean BIG. It really got me thinking about his diet in the future. There's nothing I can do now, he is breastfed, so I can't with hld a feeding, he's too little. The only think I can say is try to get out with your little girl and keep her active as much as possible!!! good luck!!!

Re: EDITED WITH PICS...Please help..anyone have an overweight toddler?
I am not dealign with this...YET, I admit I worry about DS because he is a big kid although he carries it well also. At this 12 month APPT he was 30lbs and 33+inches.
2 weeks ago he was 33lbs at a sick visit. He is similar to your DD in that from about 3pm on he wants to snack...constantly! Its hard. I dont have much advice but I will say I DO know an overweight Child, she is 4 and most definitely a big kid. Its obvious that she is overweight, your child does not appear that way to me. She seems big for her age in that many people would probably think she is 4ish and not 2 (I have the same issue with DS, people are shocked to find out he is only 16 months)
If it were me (and these are things I am trying to do now to prevent that conversation with the Dr) I would cut back on all sugary snacks and juices, switch to the low fat milk, and try to "schedule" snacks and now that the weather is turning I am trying to keep DS active alot more and outside, I know with DS if he is distracted he doesnt want to snack as much.
GL!!!

I'm sorry (and this is just MY opinion) but I think your doctor is being rediculous. You can't possibly control how much she grows. Kids go through growth spurts, next time she has a check up she may very well grow a few inches and not gain an ounce, thats how kids are......and I personally DO NOT think she looks fat by any means. You can of course limit juice and snacks and get her involved in more physical activity, but if you are making healthy choices for her then thats all that needs to be done at this age.
I don't think you are always going to agree with your pediatrician 100% of the time. You are her mom and know whats right.
I agree with this 100%. The doctor is ridiculous!

Re: EDITED WITH PICS...Please help..anyone have an overweight toddler?
Mind if i ask how much she weighs? My 2 year old is 34 lbs and the doctor said it is a "concern". She loves to eat, she can honestly eat me under the table. Part of our problem right now is that she eats when she is bored, between crappy weather and the twins, we don't get out much, which just makes her thing of: raisins yogurt cookies chips and whatever else she can think of asking for. I have to buy her 4T in shirts and dresses, which needles to say are down to her ankles.
I know how you feel I don't worry to much about it, I think/hope she will just start to grow into it. My friends DD was big at 2, now at 4 she's still wearing the same clothes, but is just a lot taller! Image Attachment(s):

I don't think the Dr is being ridiculous at all. The Dr is just trying to help her at a young age so she doesn't have to go through life with health problems etc. I actually am really happy that you have a Dr like this.
Maybe put her in a sport activity like soccer tots or little sluggers.
My ped said that overweight children are really on the incline and they are trying to stop it before it gets worse.
