Egg Retrieval Results!
So I just got the call from LIIVF regarding yesterday's retrieval....
10 follicles were retrieved, 9 were mature, and 8 were successfully fertilized using ICSI. I am currently scheduled for a day 3 transfer on Friday, but it may be changed to a day 5 transfer pending how things progress and what the embryologist thinks is best.
Are these good results? This is my 1st IVF, so I'm not sure!

Yes, those are good results. If 8 our of 9 mature fertilized thats a very high rate of fertilization. They will watch them and if some don't make it they may do a 3dt but if a lot of them are still going on day 3 they will usually do a 5dt.
GL- The hardest part is waiting.

I see Dr. Kenigsberg -- it actually worked out that he was able to do my retrieval yesterday (Dr. Kreiner was originally scheduled to do it) so I was really happy!

Kreiner has such a bad rap!
It's scary when a patient is glad he didn't do their retrieval; or for that matter their transfer.
I am one of them!!! And I was his patient!

I am one of them!!! And I was his patient!
I didn't mean anything against Dr. Kreiner - I don't even know him and have never seen him during my time as a patient at LIIVF - I was just happy that it was my doctor who I usually see who ended up doing the retrieval procedure.

Relatively easy, actually! I was surprised at how little pain I was in. Honestly, the worst part of the whole thing was the anesthesiologist putting in the line for the IV. Getting blood from me on a good day can be difficult, and since you are not allowed to drink anything from midnight the night before, I was dehydrated and he was having a hard time find a vein that could withhold the IV line -- he finally got one on my hand, but my arms are all black and blue! I was groggy when I woke up, but that's to be expected. I had minimal spotting but did put a pad on just in case. Tonight's my first night of PIO injections, which many women on the board say hurt quite a bit, but all of my stim meds were taken intramuscularly due to my BMI, so I am hoping its actually not that bad since I'm already used to the big thick needles!

I LOVE, LOVE Dr. Kreiner. Not sure what he would have bad rap. He is involved with first IVF on LI and very knowledgeable & has more experience then many drs.
Regarding retrieval & fertalization it's usually about 50%. Whatever amount of eggs you get, half that is usually growing/fertizling.
