Re: Eggs over easy?

Technically no as the yolk is not hot enough to kill salmonella...I compromise by making them over medium...even THAT is not "recommended" but I feel better about itChat Icon

I wouldn't. But I tend to be more careful then others, lol. I just feel like if we are not suppose to consume anything with raw eggs why would I eat my eggs not fully cooked? KWIM? I have been eating them over medium well. There is still a little bit of yolk but all the white is cooked and the yolk issn't very runny. But that's just me Chat Icon

I don't mean to sound dumb... but how do you make them "over medium?"

you just cook them a little bit longer so the yolks are half runny half solid.

lol, you just cook it a little bit longer (and flip them) so that the yolk cooks more.

you overcook them Chat Icon

I think over medium is the state where the yolk has set, but it hasn't yet turned to the light yellow consistency of over well/ hard boiled.

personally, I cannot eat fried eggs like that. I would just scramble them, b/c I ABHOR runny scrambled eggs. so I know they are totally cooked.

Re: Eggs over easy?

ok...here's my definition of over easy...you do sunny side up and when the white is set you flip them over and count to three and put them on your plate. Over medium I count to 10. I HATE hard boiled egg yolk (easter eggs I eat off the top half of the egg, squeeze the yolk out into the garbage, and then eat the rest of the white) and insist that my yolk run (but it's hot not lukewarm/warm) and there is no snotty white -- white is all firm.

ETS: Over hard is when you cook the yolk until it is completely set (the way DH cooks them so I dont "hurt his baby"Chat Icon )

YES. I cook my egg until the white is set completely NO RAW EGG WHITE EVER. that is barf.

but I LOVE a runny yolk with buttered toast and home fries...or OMG...on a toasted buttered bagel, when the yolk is dripping down my hand Chat Icon too bad I don't like bagels much this pregnancy Chat Icon

and I am LMAO...dh says the SAME thing to me. except it's more about things that I do than what I am eating. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Eggs over easy?

My favorite is eggs over easy with the hash browns that are more like shredded potatoes, cook those till they are crunchy, then I dip the hash browns in the yolk.

Ahhhhhhh now I'm starving, I gotta stop opening up these food threads!Chat Icon
