EI evaluation is next week-what should I expect?
DS is 10 months and has an EI evaluation next week at out home.
What should I expect? (it's for physical and verbal concerns).
I know they will ask questions, will they play with him? How long does it usually last?
TIA

They will ask lots of questions, may have a questionaire for you to fill out and they play with him. If you are having a speech eval, they may ask to see him eat. The evaluator wanted to see my DS eat something soft from a spoon (like oatmeal or applesauce) and something crunchy (like crackers or cookies).
I think most of our evals were 45 min - an hour total.
It's nervewracking, I know, but you are doing the right thing.

Re: EI evaluation is next week-what should I expect?
We had an EI come to evaluate Mason b/c he was behind with eating. I thought they were wonderful. They worked so well with Mason. Played with him, tried different type of activities, and made him feel comfy. He actually enjoyed the whole thing b/c he was getting so much attention and got to play. He didn't qualify so we only had the one visit, but it'll be fine. They bring any type of activity toys. Of course the evaluation will be a little different, but it'll go well and they really know what they're doing

Thanks, I'm open to the EI, I figure it can only help and not hurt.
