Electrician cost per hour?
What do you pay per hour for an electrician? Or, what does a short house call cost? Less than an hour?
I just got a bill for $140 and wondered if this is the going rate. There were two people and they put up two lights. Took them about 20 minutes. They were very nice and neat, though.

Electrician cost per hour?
Does nobody have an electrician in the family? I was sure someone might and could chime in.

Re: Electrician cost per hour?
We're they new fixtures? Like the had to pull new wires? Or were they just replacing old fixtures? My dh is a union electrician so he doesn't do residential, but he says electricians cost a lot (even though he thinks the prices they charge can be insane) If it was just replacing old fixtures I probably wouldn't call them again.
My friend is re doing her kitchen. She just got a quote to add two new fixtures at $125 each! They were already in the ceiling putting up high hats, so that's Crazy how much they wanted to charge!

Electrician cost per hour?
Jenn, Thank you. Just replacing old fixtures. No pulling wires.
I am trying to determine if I was overcharged because we hope to do an addition to our house and will need a new electrician as our wonderful old one retired.

Is don't think it was that expensive. That's about 70 per fixture. Were they simple or so,etching that needed to be put together. I think I may have paid 100 each for 3 ceiling fans. But there was a little additional work for each.

Re: Electrician cost per hour?
We're renovating our whole house.
Luckily, DH is trading work with his electrician friend.
If we had to pay out of pocket it would be at least $2k.
And we still had to pay his 2 guys for their labor. They were there 1/2 the day putting in new fixtures in our ceiling and moving some things around and I think it was $500.00.
Plus I got them breakfast....
I think what you quoted honestly is fair for their time and gas and materials.
Honestly, for anyone to come to ones house to do something, you will be shelling out at least $100.00.
When I had carpets steamed cleaned it was more than that!!

The figure may include an initial service charge just to show up plus atleast an hour for each guy since there were two men on site. While it seems a lot it makes sense. I would prob shop around next time.
