Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
It says ages 3-8 though, so I guess 2 year old aren't invited?!? Celebrate Elmo's third birthday with your friends at Borders. There will be stories, art activities, games and more for kids ages 3-8. Some stores will also host trivia and dance party activities for older kids as well. Call your local store for more information.

Hmm...good question, I didn't see that about the ages. I'm guessing the activities are geared towards older kids...but since it's a store, they can't refuse younger kids, can they?
We MAY try to go to the Bohemia one, if DD's up from her nap.

Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
I just called Stony Brook and they are having it tomorrow. I'm going to bring Kaydyn up there even though she's 1. She might still get a kick out of the elmo stuff.

Does anyone know if the one in Stony Brook is having this? I have to work on Sat but hopefully I can get off early enough to bring Kaydyn.
Stony Brook's website doesn't list the Elmo party as an event, so I'd think they aren't. Bohemia, however, does show it as an event. Bohemia isn't too far.
I called them and they are having it. Just to let u know

My DD and I went. Was Elmo at your Border's ? because where we went, NO Elmo They just had storytelling and coloring. My DD got one of the 4 presents that they were giving away.

Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
We went to the one at the Borders at Atlas Park in Queens... It was crowded. The kids were mostly the typical Elmo-lover age (3 and under). But the activites were geared to AT LEAST 3 and up...
A few coloring photocopies, an Elmo puppet to make from construction paper and a paper bag, a story read aloud that no one could hear, and about 5 prizes (books and a few CDs);
I know it was free but I thought it was a huge dud... DS (who is 23 months) had more running up and down the aisles!
LOTS of parents were expecting Elmo -- there was almost a mutiny! When they made the kids sing "Happy Birthday" to Elmo", soooo many kids were like "Where is he?" I saw two little ones start to cry!

No Elmo at our Borders - we were so pizzed! How do you have a birthday party without the birthday person It was all crafts, which DD was too young for.
Was this the same for everyone else?

Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
yup we went to the one in Stony Brook and Elmo wasn't there. We didn't stay very long cause Kaydyn was way too young for any of the activities. She did find an Elmo stuffed animal she liked and she put it down for 2 secs and some lady took it from her.

Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
Glad I didn't end up going...I would have been po'd if i was telling DD all day that she was going to see Elmo and then he wasn't there. Another reason why I like Barnes and Noble better than Borders....

How would Elmo have been in all of those places at one time?

Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
I think the thought was nice but the planning of activities and things were not. I was at the westbury one and the man hosting was VERY nice. However, as pp's said there was no elmo and all there was basically was coloring. I was disappointed but it was free so i guess i can't really complain.

Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
We went to the one in Syosset. I was really disappointed. We got there late- and pretty much everything was over. DD colored for a few minutes- and then we walked around the children's section for a few minutes, then left!

Re: Elmo's Birthday Party at Border's this Saturday
First I went to Borders at 11am --- um no, Elmo is at 2 - and I knew that, just got Elmo and Thomas mixed up....
SO I went to TRU for the Thomas thing -- which was a table with photocopies and crayons, and a train table with older boys that were just pushing Ale out of the way.
Then she napped so we never made it back to Borders to see Elmo.
The high point: We ran into gottaluvmusic and her adorable DD Cadence. I need to post pics....
