Embarrassed to go to the library
Can they like "deny" you priveleges  ?
Im a bad person I know. I have books MONTHS ( maybe a year ) overdue.
I so want to go and be a good patroin, but I admit in teh past I have done the SAME thing....and now Im embarrassed.
So if I go bring the books back and pay up will they tell me I suck and please dont come back??

yes, go there and say u havent been around and ud like to clear ur issues
return the books..
pay ur debts..
and then u can take out whatever u want..
they wont judge im sure they will be happy to get the money plus the books back

my sister uses barnes and nobles as her library, she's terrible, she buys and returns.

You sound like me - I had books for YEARS! They won't ever charge you more than the actual cost of the book - in the end they're just grateful to get them back.

The library loves people who keep books out beyond the return date, that is how they get $$$!
I've had overdue books like 6 months overdue, and I was embarrased too, but they didn't say a thing. They are used to it.

I tease my sister that the "Library Police" are going to come and get her!! She is always borrowing books fromt eh library and "loosing" them and returning them a year later!!
My BIL is the only one that is allowed to take books out for my neice!!

they wont do anything to you... when I went to the library the other day, a guy owed them like 40 dollars and he didnt have that much with him, she just laughed and told him to bring it next time... dont worry

I'm a librarian and we don't mind when people return things late. We're just happy to get them back.
I do hate when people...
Return books full of sand from the beach.
Covered in poop, food, blood, gum, whatever...and insist it was like that when they too it out.
Chewed up by a dog, still wet with dog spit and still insist it was like that when they took it out.
Write, hi-light, rip or otherwise mess up brand new books.
Mark books with nailpolish so they remember what books they've read.
Use pieces of orange peel as bookmarks.

I can't believe people treat books like that. I barely break the spine on a paperback.
But I have abused borrowing privileges at the library I don't know if the rule changed, but my library (queens cty) had a max fine for each book of $5 or $10. So I didn't owe as much as I thought I would.

I'm a librarian too and completely agree with the above. Don't be afraid. Just be nice about it. The worst is the jerks who get nasty about the fact that THEY kept the books out so long. The people at the check-in desk deal with nasty people all the time!! They will love dealing with you. You're nice.
