Embarrassing question: Please help.
With this pregnancy I notice that my undies are always damp. How do you know if you are leaking amniotic fluid or if its sweat or something? I remember I had this with my last pregnancy but my amniotic fluid also leaked before my water actually broke several hours later. They felt the same so how does one know?

Re: Embarrassing question: Please help.
I am only 23 weeks now and I think you are alot further along than me but I was going to post the same question. I think it is extra discharge. I have heard that it is common in pregnancy and was wondering if this was happening to anyone else.

Re: Embarrassing question: Please help.
I think I figured it out. I have been using a pantyliner for the normal pregnancy discharge. I decided to go without one for a while this afternoon and see what happened. Now its only wet outside so obviously its sweat. I am NOT warm but I guess the body goes through some different changes when pregnant. Seles81: If you aren't sure, ask your dr and they can do a test to see. Or try what I did.

I thought I was leaking fluid at 30 weeks...they did a swab--turns out I was one of the lucky ones with excess discharge!
Now...I don't know if the dampness (with a pantiliner no less) is discharge, sweat, or my water being a slow leak!

Just got this one from a website. Normal vaginal discharge during pregnancy called leukorrhea is thin, white, milky and mild smelling. Leukorrhea is normal and nothing for you to worry about
I guess the bottom line is if it's more of a clear wetness it could be amniotic fluid. Either way - if there is a change - you need to call your doctor. Trust me - they are used to fielding questions. Most offices have a pre-natal nurse for the very purpose of answering questions.

Re: Embarrassing question: Please help.
I had this problem in the last trimester, especially the last few weeks... I ended up going to L&D twice because I really thought I was leaking fluid, but it turned out just to be excess discharge and/or sweat... if you're really worried, just take a trip to the doc and they'll do a quick swab to determine what it is...

The same thing actually happened to me. I thought I was leaking fluid. I went to the hospital and they checked me out and I also was one of the lucky ones with the excess discharge
