Emergency/24 hour vet
No worries-there are no emergencies with any of my furbabies, thank God.
However, about two weeks ago, we did have a bit of an emergency, and it was after hours. The only vet that we could find open was Central Vet in Valley Stream. I remember my parents not liking them from years back, and I've always heard that they overcharge like crazy. Anyway, we had no other choice.
I liked the vet with whom we met two weeks ago, although I did feel like we were overcharged. Tonight, we had to return for a check-up, and I feel as though we were overcharged again. I also did not like the vet....I felt like she was trying to sell me products and really didn't care about my kitty. She wanted to do a few other treatments unrelated to the initial problem, and I told her straight out that we would go to our own vet for those procedures.
Anyway....back to the point of this post..
Does anyone have a recommendation for an excellent vet who is available 24/7 in the event that we need emergency assistance again? I'd like to find one in the western Nassau area. Of course, we wouldn't mind driving, but if it's an emergency, we could need to get there quickly.
TIA!

Emergency/24 hour vet
Most Emergency Vets are going to charge you an arm and a leg, I know someone who used to work at the Vetinary Medical Center on Sunrise Highway in Islip on Sunrise Highway (just east of 231) and said it was $100 to just walk in the door basically. We actually had to have our golden put to sleep there when I was younger and they were very nice and so kind considering they were all working on Thanksgiving. So I would probably use them again if they were closer.
There is another Emergency Vet on 110 in Farmingdale, NY Vetinary Specialty and Emergency Center, we've never used them but since they're the closest to us we have their number on our fridge just in case.
