Empty room syndrome

Anyone else suffer from this like me? We have a nice 4 bedroom house waiting to be filled up. And it's so depressing to have empty rooms in the house. I have to close the door so I don't look into it anymore. I guess I'm feeling down in the dumps today, though better than I felt yesterday. Yesterday DH and I got into a stupid huge fight and I hung up on him. I never do that. We are fine now, I think. But, everything is so stressful. I'm going to NJ this weekend by myself to see my friends. Hopefully that will help a bit.

oh Beth Ann..my extra room is already pink with unicorns around it and the former owners had a little girl, Mikela..she was adorable and I picture a little girl every time I go in there.

Go out with your friends and enjoy..try to think of other things.

yup. our spare bedroom is very childlike, because I decorated it that way since most of our house guests are my niece and nephews Chat Icon in the beginning I thought it was cute, but now it makes me sad... though I keep telling myself someday... Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm sorry Beth-Ann. I think getting away would do you good. I wish I could get away from all this too.

Thanks, yeah, I think you are right. I also booked a weekend trip to Montreal for end of July (actually day after our GTG) with my really good friend (and my only single friend, that way I cannot talk about IF, b/c she's not interested).

Re: Empty room syndrome

I know exactly how you feel. We have a 3 bedroom home and the back bedroom was meant for a baby. The worst part is that we had just started tearing it apart when we lost Rogan, so now it sits with no carpet, unfinished floors and unpainted walls. Chat Icon

We have 3 bedrooms and none are empty. One is a guest room and one is an office. I don't have any parts of my house waiting for a baby.

I got nothing to put in the room. I have one turned into an exercise room (that I started using again last week) and one is a guest room. But, the one closest to the master, I have nothing but my old computer cabinet. Maybe I should blow up the air mattress and make the bed or something.

Can you make that room an office? Maybe buy a cheap desk, chair, and book case.

Ours was a guest room, but when we were far enough along we started getting it ready for the baby...now I don't have the heart to do anything with it.

I did the same. It took us a while to actually put in the new carpet and just paint the walls white.

What's even worse is that I had already had my baby shower so I have tons of baby stuff in that room, just waiting. Bassinet, exersaucer, things like that.
Big things. Tons of clothes. Its horrible Chat Icon

Actually one of the rooms was an office, then we finished the basement and its a really nice office (we work out of house), so everything is down in basement now. I dont' have anything extra except a papazan chair. Maybe I can make it a reading room, or just look like one. When I was in grad school the room was my homework room.

I am so sorry. I cannot imagine what you went through and seeing that stuff must be very hard.

My SIL gave us their crib a while back and my cousin was storing it for us until we needed it, I thought. And after we bought our house, i think within a second he dropped it off at our house. Well that thing was in the room closet for a while. I kept asking my DH to get it out of our house. I'm superstitious I guess. Last month (after 4yrs) he finally brought it to his parents house. Not that it made any difference.

I hope we will fill our rooms up very soon and use all the things that we have. We just have to keep believing it will happen. Faith.
