Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
I wasn't going to post on here as my recent pregnancy posts have all ended in doom and gloom - two miscarriages. So I went for my first sono this morning - should be 7 weeks and while there was a sac there he could not see any embryo or heart beat He wants me to come back in a week and a half to get another sono and they will determine then if this is an early miscarriage or not. Hd did say not to give up hope as sometimes the dates are off and then the second sono shows the embryo but he also said that usually he sees a thickening in one area and that shows the presence of an embryo and he did not see this in my case.
To be honest I am numb. I told myself going in there that I was not pregnant even though my pregnancy test taken two weeks ago showed up pregnant and my period did not arrive. I think I was steeling myself for the bad news as I dont have any pregnancy symptoms - a slight tenderness in my breasts but no nausea etc.
Has this happened anyone and what was the outcome?
He never did blood work so I wont be going back to check my levels and to be honest I am fine with that as I honestly dont want to be building up my hope every couple of days.
This was my last pregnancy so if this is not a viable pregnancy this is the end of the road for me.
Thanks

i don't have experience with this, but it could be that the dates are off. I'll keep you in my prayers that everything works out great at your next sono! Have you ever been tested to find out why you keep having miscarriages?

Re: Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
This happened to me before I got ptegnant with my 2nd son. I had what is called a blithed ovum. At a 6 weeks sono just a sac no pole no heartbeat. Same thing the following week. We waite for my body to "take care of it" but it didn't happen. AT 9 weeks they gave me a pill and I finally started bleeding. Don't loose hope 2 months later I got PG with my 2nd son!

Re: Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
Thanks everyone... I just feel so out of it...am I pregnant? am I not? part of me doesn't want to go that " there is still hope" place as it will be all the more crushing if its not there at the next sono. Part of me wishes if I am not having a viable pregnancy that I would just start to miscarry naturally...this will be my 3rd D%C in 15 months if I have to have one.
I will not allow myself to get pregnant again if this does not work out. I am 41 and obviously too old. I have two healthy children already so will just have to hang on tight to them.

Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
This happened to me and we were told there was no heartbeat and to schedule a DNC.
My husband and I decided to hold off and we went a week later to another doctor who told us to redo a sonogram in a few days. At that songoram there was a heartbeat, my dates were completely off (which I still don't understand) My DD is now 2 years old. Sending prayers your way!

Re: Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
Hang in there, you could just be off on the dates... good vibes coming for your next appointment !
I'm going to be 43 In November and expecting baby girl October 3 with my BF Robert who i been seeing over year, was complete surprize... lol I miscarried at 6 weeks last August, and since he had no kids before it hit him hard, then we decided to wait and not try and I got pregnant again 4 months later on birth control

Hang in there! Your dates could totally be off!! Based on the only few days we could have conceived I am almost a full week off from what my OB thinks I am. This is causing the doctors I am seeing for my genetic testing to think this baby is measuring too small and will have IUGR issues even though I keep telling them it is IMPOSSIBLE for the baby to be as far along as the OB says I am. So your dates could be off and when you go back the doctor may see everything he needs to see!!! I'm praying for you!!!!

Re: Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
Thanks for the and good wishes everyone and for sharing your stories. I spent the past couple of hours crying - I guess I am not so numb to it afterall!
I think if I had more pregnancy symptoms I might be feeling more confident but I think for me the lack of symptoms is pretty key...I am always feeling some nausea and food aversions at this point.
I am just so damn mad that I cannot carry a baby to full term even though I had two kids with no problems.....no problems getting pregnant but its like my body is not able to take it any further than that anymore.
I dont think i am going to be able to tell anyone if this is in fact another miscarriage as I just seem to be repeating the same old story every few months or so and I dont think I can handle any more pity.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
This happened to me with our last pregnancy. We went for a sono, only to find an empty sac. My Dr told us to come back in 9 days that its possible I was not as far we thought (I did not know my dates, they 'dated' me based on HCG levels). I went back and we saw a bigger sac, but it was still empty I was devestated because I still 'felt' pg; tired, sore breasts, nausea and bloated. I was offered a d&c but i declined, holding onto any bit of hope. i wanted to believe they were wrong; i googled everything about misdiagnosed m/c's and drove myself crazy. After about a week I couldnt take it the waiting (to m/c on my own) & scheduled a d&c. They did another u/s to confirm and it was still empty and had a d&c at what was supposed to be 10weeks.
for you that your dates are off and for a great outcome

Re: Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
This happened to me. At 6 weeks I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum. We waited 2 more weeks and while my hcg levels kept rising, and my pregnancy symptoms increased, the sac got bigger but remained empty. Its such an emotional and awful situation- for me I was in denial. I finally decided on the D&C once I accepted that there was no baby.
I am so sorry you are going thru this. I had fertility so i knew my dates were exact.

Empty Sac at 7 weeks scan
this didnt happen to me exactly the same way - i got pregnant with twins via IVF and at the first sono at 6w1d there was one sac with a heartbeat and one empty smaller sac. at 7w1d it was the same and it was determined that the empty sac was not viable. i went on to have my DD from that pregnancy.
i am sorry you are going through this again. it is def possible that the next sono shows something, but i would push to go in sooner. i dont see why you have to wait that long. if you already see a sac, you would see a yolk and fetal pole and heartbeat within a few more days to a week if it was meant to be. im no doctor but i think the extra few days beyond is just unnecessary because if you don't see anything besides a sac in a weeks time, you'll know your answer. again, so sorry
