episiotomy with baby 1 mean one with #2??
Guess i really won't know until the time comes but i'm wondering if i'll have yo get another episiotomy. That is the part i'm dreading. Not labor or delivery but the recovery afterwards from getting snipped wasn't fun!

I didn't have to with my second. My first baby was bigger though.

I don't think you ever have to--your body will just tear naturally if it needs

I had it with my first, but not my second. My tear from #2 was much larger than my episiotomy, but the recovery was so much less painful than the episiotomy recovery.

Re: episiotomy with baby 1 mean one with #2??
Crashing, but I had an episiotomy with #1, if I ever get pregnant with #2 then I know my doctor will most likely do another one when I deliver (I think he prefers them instead of tearing- this is just what I gather from other patients of his that have had vag deliveries).

Thanks!!! When I spoke with my OB about it she said they do it to avoid tearing. I didn't even have a choice with DS. I didn't know I had one until afterwards! That recovery was awful; so not looking to have to go through that again!

Same exact scenario here. I'm trying not to think about it.

Re: episiotomy with baby 1 mean one with #2??
I had an episiotomy and third degree tearing with #1 and a terrible recovery. I had no episiotomy, second degree tearing and a much easier recovery with #2. So it's possible! I also pushed for an hour+ with #1 and had #2 in one push!

One push!! WOW!! that was a strong push!!!
I hope I have it as easy!! I remember the pain just trying to sit up in the bed!

I had episiotomies with both but #1 was much worse. I pushed for 4 hours with her and only 1 hour with DS. That one hour was a breeze in comparison!

This. Can you ask for them not to do it since your recovery was bad from it?
My dr doesn't do it all. I tore with my first, but very minimal. My dd was 8.1 too.

So it sounds like the recovery from a tear is easier than being gut#

I had an episiotomy with dd, and I was actually cut twice during the hour I pushed. Wasn't told how many stitches, but she had to go back for more sutures after running out when stitching me up. Recovery was awful! It was so frustrating bc I felt perfectly fine immediately after, other than the stitches-I was so scared of tearing them!
