You can;'t type it in the cell, you need something to find the code out, and put that in the phone..
1972 is the code for something else
ETA: Getting the cellphone code and putting it in is the most convulted illogial thing, which is what I hate about these games.

From the very first moment you can get a glass of lime juice, a martini glass, a blender, an ice pick, a coaster, a cell phone, a cloth and a bottle of rum

I have all of those except the bottle of rum. I also have a suitcase, a ring, a block of ice, a lighter, and some kind of punch card thing

Examine each item carefully, and the bottle of rum is actually hard and annoying to get, you have to click around behind the bar a little bit. It's by the upside down glasses
