Essentials for kitchen remodel...
we are in the beginning stages of remodeling our kitchen...I would like some ideas and suggestions on what you find absolutely necessary in you kitchen...i.e. double sinks, double oven, eat-in-kitchen..
Thanks so much!!!

Re: Essentials for kitchen remodel...
I love to cook, so my essentials would not necessarily be aesthetic..
I would NEED a double oven. I want the kind that has the broiler on the side. at least 5 burners.
also a warming drawer
a french door bottom freezer fridge
an island with an eat in bar stool option
I do like a double sink, but I could also consider just having a sink in the cabinetry (standard way)- and MUST be farmhouse style and another smaller sink in the island (for prep). I would LOOOVVEE to have a hose or faucet close to the stove...but that is very fab and not sure I could afford it.
I would do either a concrete or a recylced glass countertop. NO granite for me. tile floors.
I would also like to have a piece of marble slab built in as well, creating sort of a baking nook.

ohhh.... a girl after my own heart....
problem is we need to maximize space...so although I have my essentials i.e. double oven, island, wine refrigerator...space becomes an issue....
and concrete countertops...
but

Re: Essentials for kitchen remodel...
My wish list (so far):
- double sink - flip down compartment in front of sink for scrubby and dishcloth - pot filler/sink near range - range on island with bar stools on other side - dishwasher with controls on inside or controls that lock (so little ones can't change the settings) - wall double oven - pull outs in lower cupboards, pan racks in cupboards - pantry - Cambria countertop
ETA: - grill feature on range

Re: Essentials for kitchen remodel...
we just did ours - essentials for me:
double oven
bread drawer
built in utensil drawer
two-tier island - first level for cooktop, second level for eating
farmhouse sink
We also got the garbage and recycle pail in a cabinet - big waste of space to me. I could have just put the garbage and recycle pail in the pantry....
Word of advice - don't use Consumers or Home Depot or any other 'big name' kitchen design place. We used Consumers and there are things that a smaller custom cabinet place wouldn't have allowed. Since they're stock cabinets, there are random spaces (wasted no less) between some cabinets/areas.
The one good thing I got out of Consumers was she recommended doing a crank window above the sink (not double-hung like we have elsewhere) because it would be easier to open/close. You don't have to stretch with both arms across the sink to open the double hung, just one hand to crank it open.
