Re: Etiquette question (BRU registry-related)

**Crashing**

I would do like another posted suggested and put it on top where you can add comments, and I would have people do word of mouth. I wouldn't put it on the invitation, but depending on how big it is you should be able to let people know via family. I understand the frustration, but to put it on an invite would be tacky...do word of mouth and comments...JMHO

the lady that helped us register at BRU said to put it in the comments section on top of the registry so that is what we did...hopefully people will listen. i would hate to end up with 2 swings, or any other big items...what would you do Chat Icon

I think it is rude. I think you should put something in the comments section or something like that, but the older ladies in my family would balk at something in an invite like that!!

You could sell one. And if it was two different swings, you could see which DC liked. ALSO a lot of things wiht newborns are trial and error and I have plenty of things that I registered for, got and never used!

There's nothing wrong with noting that you want gift receipts.

I see several reasons for wanting the receipt besides not liking the item.

You got duplicates 'cus the system was down OR the item is defective/broken or not the right model.

My sister did this for my shower
I asked her to bc I knew the policy was changing

I would say 90% of the people gave me receipts.

I would suggest putting something like "please be sure to get a gift recpt, items cannot be returned or exchanged without one" on the registry.

You can add it up on top, so when people look online, or print it in the store, it will be on the first page they see.

ITA. I think explaining why is a good way to handle it. And many mistakes happen with registries. With my first I got 3, yes 3 swings. It was because all 3 people were shopping at the same time and they all got the same printout showing it was available. They were so embarrased at my shower too! Also I cannot tell you how many times a toy is broken right out of the box, etc. The policy stinks but if it is your only option then I would gently let people know to include a GR.

Most people gave receipts. That is a horrible policy for them to start. A few people bought the wrong item. Like, I registered for the aquarium with the music that goes in the crib and they got me the aquarium mobile. I already had a mobile.

Doing this actually works I tried it last week, I got a bunch of things that weren't on my registry.I added them before I went to the store. It doesn't matter if the item shows purchased or not as long as it's on the registry they will still give you credit.

great information, thank you!!

You have to wonder, though...doesn't BRU realize that they're going to have all sorts of "fraud" going on because of this new policy? Chat Icon
