Ever have a birthday that really freaked you out?
I'm turning 25 soon and it is really freaking me out. Maybe it's because I don't have the stability in my life that I wanted and things are just really difficult right now, but I can't help but think "wow. How did I get to be 25, wasn't I just 17?" and "1/4 to 1/3 of my life is now over."
I guess combined with recent events (the tragic death of a family friend) I am realizing life is so short. I could die tomorrow, and it's like, what did I do with the first 25 years?
I also feel like I'm getting old. Like I'm just freaking that I'm going to grey, get wrinkles, have my metabolism be even slower. I'm not planning on having kids for a long time, and it's like "great,I'm already at the age where fertility is declining"
I'm really being psycho about this.
Has anyone else gone through this?

25 hurt the most so far...it was even worse than 30. I drank for a week straight trying to avoid it

25 was definitely the worst for me so far. I am 28 now, but I don't think 30 will be as bad as 25. I don't know why I just didn't want to turn 25; but it ended up being a GREAT year!

Ok. I'm glad I'm not alone! So not alone. 25 was the birthday that I realized I was not 16 anymore. I have to say though I got over it just as quickly as I freaked out about it.
I also went back to school that same year, so that helped as well. It was a wake up for me in that I was basically just d!ckin' around working in a bar & not really doing anything to finish my degree & such. It kind of made me realize that I needed to go back, so it was all good in the end, KWIM?

Re: Ever have a birthday that really freaked you out?
My 25th birthday freaked me out because it was the day of the 1993 WTC bombing and I was sitting at my desk two floor above where the van filled with explosives parked ...
I love it being my birthday so none of the milestones really have bothered me at all ... we'll see how I feel next year on my 40th ...

Re: Ever have a birthday that really freaked you out?
I always freak out about my age.
When I was 23 1/2 I flipped about turning 25 in 18 months. My sister did also, it helped her when she realized she could rent a car without penalties or signing crazy waivers.
On my 30th biirthday, I cried all day long. I was a complete basket case for some reason.
I didn't like turning 38 because that's just way too close to 40. Lord knows how bad I will be when that happens next year.

Thanks!
That's really how I'm feeling. Up until this point I would think "Yeah, I'm just like, a few years older than teenagers" and I still really have connected to my teenage self. But now it's like "wow. 25."
I remember when I got my passport and I was thinking"This will expire when I'm 26. I'm never going to be 26. That is OLD"

That's a good one! I hadn't thought about that! I will save $25 a day on car rentals!

Nope not yet.
I look at it this way, another year older certainly beats the alternative

25 was so long ago i cant even remember what it felt like. does that make you feel better?
Seriously though - i am like that with every passing year. you just have to take a step back and think about how you have many wonderful years ahead of you.
