Ever look around your house...

And see only the bad stuff?

I swear, lately, everything I look at needs to be fixed or repainted or replaced.

Anyone else have house-hating phases?

Re: Ever look around your house...

i dont know if i would call it house hating.

but i walk into my house sometimes and try to look at it from a visitors point of view and i'm like oh my god i dont want people to think we live this way..

we only moved in 3 weeks ago so we have an excuse.
but we have a ton of painting to do and quite a bit of re organizing.. we'll do it. little by little, we'll do it..

dont hate your house, it is your home!

Yes- I told DH the other day that I have a true love-hate thing with our house. There are things inherent to the house and things we've done that I am really happy with, and then there are things I look at and I wish I'd thought a little more about how much some things would aggravate me!

YES. I was just thinking this all week.

I have been noticing more nicks in the paint, scratches on the wood floors, a new front door, etc.

Re: Ever look around your house...

I don't own a house, but I do feel like that where I live.
even when I buy new things, it never looks quite the way I want it to.

Re: Ever look around your house...

I've been doing that for the last 11 years... I am a big fixer-upper kind of guy, so nothing is ever good enough, and I notice the smallest details. I'll spend an hour fixing something that is bugging the he77 out of me, and DW never even noticed it before or after I fixed it... Chat Icon

Not long after we put our place up for sale, I started noticing every little scratch in the paint, clutter, dirty spot that couldn't be cleaned, etc. Before that, I was perfectly happy with our place. But when we put it up for sale, I started to see it through other's eyes!

Re: Ever look around your house...

It's so hard for me to keep the house as clean as I want it, so all I ever see is smudges on the window, dust on the hardwood floor, dog hair on the couch, etc.

Also, after a year, our house still isn't fully decorated yet, and it's driving me nuts!!!!

Re: Ever look around your house...

I am always thinking of things that I would like to do or things that need to be done even if it is just giving the molding a quick re-paint or organizing closets. But I will have plenty of time after I have the baby to do all that stuff (of course when the baby is sleeping). I would love to just pay someone to come in and do these things but that costs $$$$ and with a baby on the way we want to save not spend.

Re: Ever look around your house...

Yes! We are newer homeowners we closed 10/25...and I love the house but I keep looking at it and seeing all the imperfections I didn't see before. My husband is not so handy...learning, but needs help doing things so it takes up a little longer then the average person to get a task accomplished. I get so frustrated and wish everything was finished and perfect! Then I think about it and if I absolutely loved the house when I bought it...why do I have such a problem?????

Re: Ever look around your house...

Yes, I feel like redoing every room in my house, from furniture to floors. I wonder if its' because I am PG or if I am just tired of the make shift decorating style to combine what used to be my DH's stuff and my stuff from us moving together.

This is how I feel, although I've been in my house a little longer! We just don't know whats the right move, where to go and to sell first is not really what I want to do. Especially when I read about all the people having trouble selling

Re: Ever look around your house...

Yeah...we have all hardwood floors and tiling. I REALLY want to get berber carpeting upstairs. Plus there are a few major things we want to do which we are not sure if we want to spend the $$ or just move locally to a house that already has those things (central air, a 2nd bathroom, a finished basement, an eat in kitchen). Our kitchen is big but oddly shaped so no room for a table. Chat Icon

Re: Ever look around your house...

YES!!!! Every minute of everyday. Even after we got our kitchen redone, I found everything wrong with it and ignored everything right with it. No matter what room I am in, I sit and look at all the things that need to be fixed. Chat Icon
