Exercise after c-sec
7 weeks since had my c-sec.. the pooch is still there and it hurts when I press on it. Does anyone here have an exercise program for after c-sec. How soon and how much? I was planning to start pilates reformer at NYSC this week but not sure if that'd count under "too much".. any ideas/ experience?!

Re: Exercise after c-sec
I didn't have a c-section (natural childbirth) but my abs were very very weak after giving birth. I started out (after I got the ok from my doctor at my 6 week checkup) doing really light ab exercises, some light weights at the gym, and some easy low impact aerobic exercise.
Did you tell your doctor that you still have some pain? Did he/she give you the ok to work out? I would say doing the reformer would be too much at this point. You definitely don't want to rush into anything. Your joints are still loose and things are still all out of whack, so be careful!

Re: Exercise after c-sec
My MD told me that it was ok to do some light walking, but that's about it....(I know how difficult that sounds. I also had a c-section, and was dying to jump on the treadmill and start running, but you have to give your body time to heal, especially because you had the c-section. You have stiches inside of you, and you don't want that to open up.)
I'm not sure when I got the green light to start running and doing a normal workout routine, so just ask your MD. All I remember is being frustrated that I had to wait so long.

My SIL had a c-section and her doctor told her the same thing. She was only aloud to do some walking, and nothing major. I would check with your MD. Good Luck
