You might want to read the reviews from the Parenting board on this thing. I registered for it and found it very inaccurate as did most moms

I LOVE this thermometer. Yes, it's not 100% accurate. BUT it's a great tool to know if your kid has a fever or not...And sometimes you don't have to worry about accuracy.
I use it to determine if my daughter is ill - then if I know she has a fever I will take it rectally to be more accurate - otherwise why go through the torture?

I would NOT recommend a temporal thermometer, I HATE mine
and most doctors only accept a rectal reading if you call them about a fever...

Because of accuracy, my DH will only use the rectal one, so that's what we will have in the house.
