expensive item on registry....
So all the big items have been purchased by my inlaws and parents....so i added the glider I really want to my BBB registry, it's way more than anyone will likely spend, but I figured maybe one of my aunts or uncles or the three of them might want to get it for me....do you think people will roll their eyes at me for putting a $400 item on my registry?

I feel kinda weird too. There will be no furniture or pumps or anything on mine. The most expensive item will likely be my stroller, and I'm not going to pick one that's probably more than $300 or so.

No. The registry is where you keep track of all the things you need/want. Most people are aware of the registry completion discount. Just because something is on your registry does not mean anyone HAS to buy it for you.
If someone has nothing under $100 on the registry, then I might roll my eyes, but then again that's why there are gift cards.

Nope don't feel embarrassed at all. People are extremely generous when it comes to babies, and that could be purchased as a group gift.

Nope!! I put a 400 glider on my registry and my hubby's aunts chipped in and bought it for us!:) It really works out with the big items when there are a group of people wanting to chip in for a gift!

hell no!! I had the same feeling but honestly people especially family will get you so much and like you said some people might combine gifts as well!. Don't worry if not im sure you will get gc's as well and you can put that towards the glider

I wouldn't worry about it. I think you will be surprised what some people are willing to spend - I know I was! And even if no one buys it, people may decide to give you gift cards to use towards it.

Re: expensive item on registry....
Thanks for the reassurance....I just know the only big items left on the registry are convertible car seats and swings...so nothing over $150....... Giving a higher price option will give my extended family something to buy....They can be very generous!
I hope I get it!!! But I'm not holding my breath, and I have my eye on a cheaper one at Walmart in case I don't get it....

Re: expensive item on registry....
no way! With baby #1, I got all the big items on my registry except for my breast pump (My aunt told me she was going to buy it, but my uncle vetoed it cause he thought breast pump is a weird thing to buy LOL).
Some people you would never expect it from will splurge and buy you big things. Some groups of people will combine to buy you big things (my mom, sister and I always do combo gifts to get something big!). ANd if worse comes to worse, you can use your registry completion discount to buy the big items if you don't get them!

Re: expensive item on registry....
I'm sure I'll have a few big ticket items on my registry - a stroller, maybe? But yeah, I think it's normal - I'm sure most people's registries have a few higher priced items.

expensive item on registry....
I feel as though you should register for whatever you want. I've have a couple people say to me "everything on your registry is either really expensive or really cheap". I had to explain to those people (friends/family that have never had kids) that is what baby things are, either a couple people will chip in or just buy a bunch of little stuff. I am prepared to buy whatever I don't get on my registry. I feel as though I should register for things that I would buy myself, I don't feel comfortable asking for people to buy something I'm not willing to pay for. With the glider though, they are expensive, it's just what they are. It's like breast pumps. My SIL registered for an expensive glider. DH and I wanted to buy it but was WAY out of our price range so we did some looking around and found something similar which was cheaper. It's an option for people to think about as well if thats what they want to get you.

Re: expensive item on registry....
It's totally up to you. I received an UppaBaby stroller from a relative, so I left it off the registry. I felt very weird putting it on and having people know I was requesting such an expensive item.

Re: expensive item on registry....
I used to think it was rude (on my part) until everything x2 was purchased and people were asking me to add more. People want to buy big stuff even if they go in on it with others. Its annoying buying all the mis-matchy odds and ends.

No they want to get it they will. If they don't they don't. I'm at the point I don't care who rolls their eyes.

expensive item on registry....
Not at all! Sometimes people go in on a gift with friends or family members so several can chip in. And It's not like EVERYTHING on there is $400! You want quality items for your LO- register for the stuff YOU want, and if you don't get everything, then you can always return the stuff you DONT want and get the items you do!

Re: expensive item on registry....
I will not be putting any furniture on my registry because DH and my parents will be taking care of that. But I will definitely be putting other expensive items on there, like the Uppa Vista stroller. I'm sure I'll get some eye rolls from friends and family, but I could care less. I'll have a lot of price points to choose from. Like others have said, it's a list to keep track and we will buy items we want that are not purchased, whether expensive or not, and people can go in together for higher-priced items.

mil bought all our furniture but didn't consider the glider a necessity...... and it's apparently more for me than the baby... Haha
