experience with gas and ebf babies ?
DS is 2 weeks old and seems to be struggling to poop throughout the day. He does poop at least 3 times a day but several times a day he is pushing and crying mostly when I'm nursing him. I have already cut out milk from my diet and it doesnt seem to help. What can I do to help him?

DS had horrible gas at that age and nothing I eliminated from my diet seemed to help at all. Colic Calm, Gripe Water and Mylicon seemed to help him temporarily. He eventually outgrew it but we had some rough days/nights!

Did you ever ask your ped about why it could be happening?

Yes, and he basically just told us that it was something he had to outgrow. It got much worse at around 3 months and now at 5 months it doesn't happen at all! Since you eliminated dairy from your diet it couldn't be a milk allergy/sensitivity and I think that's the major thing they like to rule out. I would keep a log of what you are eating and the degree of gassiness/funniess he has that day... that might be able to help you figure out what foods to avoid. I did this and couldn't find any pattern whatsoever.
Colic Calm really was a LIFESAVER. It took effect the second he swallowed it!

Re: experience with gas and ebf babies ?
if he is crying mainly when you are nursing him it could be a really fast let-down. . then babies tend to gulp a lot of air bc they are nursing so fast and they can get a lot of colic from it. . if that's the case you can pump a little bit first so it won't be so fast. .
other than that what other people said - mylicon, gripe water, my pediatrician said 1 oz of chamomile tea would be good too. .

You can find it anywhere... BBB, BRU, CVS, Walgreens, etc. Hope it helps!!
Side Note: It is a black liquid and at first freaked us out a bit bc his whole mouth was black until he swallowed it all.

Thank You. This seems like it could be a possibilty I do hear him swolling air when he nurses. Is the chamomile for the baby?
