Eye color question..Long sorry...I think Ive had to much coffee

Background Info:

My DH and I just had our first child together..DH is brown-eyed I am green eyed...DH has one daughter with brown and one daughter with green...(so we already know that he carries the blue-eyed allele(gene))..It was topic of conversation at thanksgiving dinner whether or not DS was going to keep his light blue eyes....

OK..now the question. (Especially those of you with very dark eyed children) How old was your child when they got the eye color they have now..

I don't have children, but my family and I were just discussing this the other day. My nephew had blue eyes when he was born, and he's 7 months old and they have turned hazel. My mom said my brother was the same way-his eyes were blue and slowly turned brown. He had brown eyes by the time he was 9 months old.

Thanks!!! My eldest never had light eyes. Her eyes have always been dark..and my Twins eyes have been light light blue and have only gotten lighter..they didnt turn grey until they were 3...I know what the "book" says about it BUT I want to know from real people..

I have green, DH has brown. DS #1 had brown eyes from the start. DS #2 had light eyes and now at 12 months they are really light blue.

Dh has brown & I have blue, our 2.5yr old was born with very blue eyes but by one or a little after they now changed to a green/blue (if that makes any sense)

Re: Eye color question..Long sorry...I think Ive had to much coffee

Parents are not the only people who influence the color of eyes.

My son has very dark brown eyes, almost black. He was born with dark eyes and they stayed that way. My daughter was born with grey/blue eyes and they are still the same color 7 months later.

My DH has green eyes and I have brown eye. My father has blue eyes and my mom has dark brown eyes. Dh's father has grey eyes and his mom had brown eyes.

I guess Lucy got her eyes from both grandpas.

BTW, my paternal grandparents both have/had brown eyes but my father's grandfather had blue eyes and that's where my dad got his blue eye. I guess in our family eye color is determined by your grandparents.

Well, I have dark brown eyes and my hubby has blue. Going further, my parents have dark brown, but my grandparents have blue, as do many of my cousins. Also, many people in JT's family have blue. That being said, Ava, at 17.5 months old has very blue eyes still. I do wonder if she'll keep them, as I hear they can change up until 3 years old.
