EZ Pass Question
We went to VA over the weekend and had our EZ Pass. Back story...we got a new windshield but didn't get new velcro for the ez pass, so when we would go through the toll booth, I held it up.
However, there were 2 places that have me scratching my head. We saw the EZ pass sign and went into the lane but I wasn't holding the ez pass up because I was waiting until we got to the scanning area. However, in 2 places (Maryland, I think), there was no slow down/stop scanning area. You just go through. I didn't know that so I didn't put it up to the windsheild.
Prepare me...should I expect some big fine or are the scanners strong enough to sense the ex pass?

Re: EZ Pass Question
There are some places that have a scanner above the road that reads the passes as you drive thru at normal speed.. Was ur easy pass laying on the dash board? if so it probally read it. If Not you may be able to write a letter stating what happen if you do get a ticket. Im not possitive about that but i think my sister in law did that and they cancelled the ticket since the car was registard to a ezpass they just charged it then.

Re: EZ Pass Question
Im sure that you just need to provide proof that you had ez pass for the car if they do try to fine you.

Re: EZ Pass Question
If the license plate matches a car they have in the system, they will just charge that account.

Re: EZ Pass Question
This has happened to us where the tag wasn't read. As long as you have an account and contact them to let them know what happened, you can just pay the toll.

Re: EZ Pass Question
It probably registered.
I've given DH my EZPASS multiple times and have not had an issue, and it was not held up to scan.
We only had one "warning" and that was when one of us was going over the speed limit through the toll where you don't have to stop ;).

Re: EZ Pass Question
You are probably ok, provided that your tag was at a minimum on your dashboard. I drive the NY to MD route often on I-95, and there are several 'high speed' tolls. Even if your tag did not register, as long as your licence plate info is up to date in the EZ Pass system, you will be fine, b/c they check the photos of plates for cars that don't have a tag or it doesn't register. Same thing would happen if/when you tag battery dies and the scanners can't register the tag.
You'll be fine.

Yes, this. I had an ez pass die on me! I had no idea they ran out of life. Makes sense though. When I looked up my bill it had a different entry, like someone manually did it instead of a computer.

Re: EZ Pass Question
Thanks for the replies. I was able to check our account and no violations appeared so hopefully all is fine.
