EZ Pass violation question
Went through the EZ Pass website but couldn't find out what will happen.
Traveled a bit this weekend over bridges and through tunnels and noticed my tag came up as "Not Paid". I have plenty of money in the account and my husbands tag worked fine just a few weeks ago.
I'm assuming I will eventually get a ticket in the mail. Do I just enter it into the violations section on their site? Anybody have any experience with this? tia

Re: EZ Pass violation question
If you have a tag and it is registered to your license plate, you might not get a violation in the mail. If you do, you can fight it. The info will be on the ticket.

Re: EZ Pass violation question
I've had this happen. It always happens on th New Rochelle toll for some reason. I contested it using the violations sheet. There's a place where you can check off tat you're contesting it b ecause there was a valid and active tag in the car and you just have to write down the tag number and send it in. I don't know if you can go this online

Re: EZ Pass violation question
We saw some 'not paid' signals once and it was because the battery in the tag had died. I asked them about the tolls that went thru and they said that part of the review process is they will check to see if that plate has an ezpass account and if so they will automatically charge it.

If it happened consistently, you may want to call them and they will ship you a new tag. We had no way of knowing the battery had died or it was broken, so you might have the same thing.

This happened to me about a month ago. I went through a toll, and the attendant was screaming at me for "not stopping". I thought for sure I was getting a violation, but I got a notice instead that it was detected my battery had died. They sent a new tag within a couple weeks and I just had to send the old one back in the postage-paid envelope that was enclosed.

Re: EZ Pass violation question
I've gotten tickets for this before for using the EZ Pass in our other car that didn't have the plate registered to that EZ Pass.
Call the 800 number on the notice, usually they'll waive it.
